Tekken 8 players are begging for real-life boxing legend Mike Tyson to be added to the new fighting game's playable roster. Some Tekken 8 fans believe Mike Tyson's move-set could draw inspiration from a popular character last seen in Tekken 7.

Bandai Namco's prolific fighting game franchise continues with Tekken 8, the first Tekken title following the death of Heihachi Mishima in Tekken 7. G Corporation leader Kazuya Mishima continues to ravage the world, and Jin Kazama is finally determined to fight his father once more. Tekken 8 will also feature Jin's mother, Jun Kazama, as a playable character for the first time since Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Jun is joined by several mainstay characters such as Nina Williams, Hwoarang, Marshall Law, and Paul Phoenix.

Tekken fans are clamoring for Mike Tyson to become a playable fighter in the new fighting game after being confirmed as a panelist for the official Tekken 8 panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2023. Some players believe Tyson's move-set could draw inspiration from Steve Fox, a worldwide boxing champion from Tekken 7. Steve has not been confirmed as a playable character for Tekken 8 yet, and fans believe Tyson could serve as a rival for the character in the new game. The Tekken community's desires grew after one fan created an AI-generated render of Tyson as a Tekken 8 fighter.

Mike Tyson is one of five panelists that took part in the "Tekken 8: The Art of Fighting" panel at Comic-Con 2023. Tyson was joined by MMA fighter Cris Cyborg, WWE superstar Xavier Woods, Tekken 8 director Katsuhiro Harada, and producer Michael Murray. During the Tekken 8 panel, these world-renowned fighters discussed personal stories about their careers and the fighting culture present within gaming alongside Harada and Murray.

The excitement around Mike Tyson is beneficial for Tekken 8 as more gamers become interested in what Bandai Namco's new fighting game could bring in the future. Moreover, Negan's appearance in Tekken 7 may be a sign that Bandai Namco is open to having real-world likenesses and actors in Tekken 8. Tekken fans may want to temper their expectations involving guest characters since none have been confirmed for Tekken 8, however.

The Tekken 8 team might focus on highly requested characters that were omitted during the development of Tekken 7's DLC. These characters include Christie, Mokujin, and Wang Jinrei, but it remains to be seen if any of these characters will return at launch for Tekken 8. Most recently, Claudio Serafino was revealed for Tekken 8, and players may try out Claudio for a limited time in the closed network test.

Tekken 8 is in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
