A new trailer for Tekken 8 highlights the dreaded Kazuya Mishima and his brutal martial arts move set. Fans of the long-running Tekken series waited anxiously for news of the latest installment following 2015’s Tekken 7, and they finally received confirmation that Tekken 8 is on the way during the PlayStation State of Play on September 13, 2022. Before that, a brief teaser for the game was shown at the end of the Tekken 7 tournament at EVO 2022, with Kazuya Mishima himself grinning ominously at viewers to herald the upcoming Tekken 8.

Kazuya Mishima’s presence in Tekken 8 was almost an inevitability, as the ruthless warrior has been a major playable character since the original Tekken in 1994. In the Tekken games that followed, Kazuya has alternated between antihero and outright villain as he was put into constant conflict with other immortal Tekken characters like his father, Heihachi Mishima, and his son, Jin Kazama.

A new gameplay trailer for Tekken 8 was released earlier this week, featuring Kazuya Mishima in a fierce battle against Jin Kazuya in a busy city street. During this fight, viewers can see Kazuya's move set in action as he delivers brutal punches, kicks, and combo moves. His sinister Devil Gene form can also be seen during certain attacks, including a devastating Special Move that he uses to finish Jin off.

This Kayzua-centric trailer is just the latest in a series of Tekken 8 videos. Just a few weeks ago, Tekken 8 revealed gameplay for Nina Williams and announced that a closed beta for the game will be held in select countries in the near future. Publisher Bandai Namco has also promised that Tekken 8 will feature brand-new stage destruction and Heat System mechanics, which will supposedly make Tekken’s intense battles more aggressive than ever before.

Very few characters represent this aggression and intensity quite like Kayuza Mishima, and now eager Tekken fans have a better look at his move set for the forthcoming Tekken 8. Kazyuza’s presence as a playable character in Tekken 8 might not be all that surprising, but seeing the morally complex face of the Tekken franchise take to the battlefield once more serves as an exciting look into what fans can expect when Tekken 8 releases sometime next year.

Tekken 8 is in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
