It’s been recently confirmed that actor Tyler Hoechlin will be returning for the revival film to reprise his role as character Derek Hale, who appeared in the original series' first four seasons and the show's finale. The reveal of his surprising comeback follows the announcement that actor Vince Mattis will appear in the film as Derek’s teenage son. Hoechlin took to Twitter to celebrate the news, exclaiming his excitement to his 1.7 million followers.

“In Teen Wolf: The Movie, a full moon rises in Beacon Hills, and with it, a terrifying evil has emerged. The wolves are howling once again, calling for the return of Banshees, Were coyotes, Hellhounds, Kitsunes, and every other shapeshifter in the night," read the official synopsis. "But only a Werewolf like Scott McCall (Posey), no longer a teenager yet still an Alpha, can gather both new allies and reunite trusted friends to fight back against what could be the most powerful and deadliest enemy they've ever faced." In the midst of all the excitement surrounding Teen Wolf's epic comeback, there are a few integral original actors who won’t be returning to continue the stories of their characters.

One of the actors to confirm they won't be coming back is actor Dylan O'Brien, who played Stiles Stilinski, Scotts' best friend and the show's main comedic relief point. O'Brien has made it clear that he chose to turn down coming back to the show, but the decision was in no way easy for him to make. Another familiar face fans won’t be seeing is that of actress Arden Cho, who played the role of the fiery kitsune Kira Yukimura, who appeared on the show for 2 and a half seasons. It's been reported by Deadline that Cho's decision to not revive her role in the upcoming Paramount Plus project was due to her salary being substantially less than that of her co-stars.

Despite the sadness surrounding a few main cast members not returning for the revival, the anticipation for Teen Wolf's second chance later this year continues to grow as familiar faces continue to attach themselves to the film.

The Teen Wolf movie does not have a release date yet.
