The Twilight Saga: New Moon director Chris Weitz just revealed that Taylor Swift was almost a part of the Twilight franchise.

Swift is known for many things, including her classic red lipstick, her iconic love ballads that sometimes even stretch the ten-minute mark, and her directorial work on music videos. However, she might have also been famous for being a part the highly-succesful Twilight franchise had events unfolded differently and her fame not been an issue.

During an interview on The Twilight Effect with Ashley Greene and Melanie Howe, Weitz disclosed that Swift wanted to make a cameo in the iconic Twilight film. “The craziest one of all those was to hear that Taylor Swift was a huge Twi-hard, and actually Taylor Swift and I had the same agent at the time,” Weitz said. “Taylor would like to be in this movie – not because of you, but she's a Twi-hard. She would be someone at the cafeteria or the diner or whatever, but she just wants to be in this movie.”

Weitz went on to share that he chose not to cast Swift in the film because he felt it would be too distracting for the audience of the film. "The moment that Taylor Swift walks onto the screen, for about five minutes, nobody is going to be able to process anything," he said. However, Weitz has made it clear that looking back on that decision thirteen years later, he regrets not allowing the cameo, joking that he and Swift could have become friends if she was a part of the Twilight: New Moon cast.

Although the "All Too Well" singer didn’t make it to the screen during Twilight: New Moon, she recently just made a cameo in a trailer for an upcoming thriller comedy film called Amsterdam. In her brief cameo, Swift is seen crying in red lipstick, dressed in a 1930s-style hat and dress. However, no concrete details about the role have been made public yet, besides the fact that Swift is playing a mourning daughter.

So although Swift didn’t get to play a vampire or a werewolf in Twilight: New Moon, she will have her chance to appear on the big screen very soon in Amsterdam. However, as the Twilight fan hysteria is still alive and well, along with there being another Twilight novel that has yet to be adapted into a film, maybe Swift still has a chance of appearing in a Twilight film after all.

The Twilight films are available on Amazom Prime Video.
