  • Taylor Swift may have confirmed her role as Dazzler in Deadpool & Wolverine through song lyrics.
  • Fans speculate about Swift's potential appearance, adding to the anticipation for the film.
  • Concerns exist about the film's quality and adherence to its risque origins in the MCU environment.

As Deadpool & Wolverine gets closer and closer to release, one of the upcoming film’s most high-profile rumored additions might have just confirmed their role in the film in a very unique way that has fans buzzing online.

Deadpool & Wolverine is set to be the only theatrical release from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2024, and as such, it has been at the center of almost all fan speculation in the lead-up to its impending release. One major reason for this is the purported cast, a massive ensemble featuring tons of MCU debuts and big names portraying them. Top of the list of rumored appearances has been singing sensation Taylor Swift, with Deadpool 3’s director Shawn Levy even being asked about the casting directly. While Levy refused to give a straight answer, the rumors have only grown more prominent in the interim.

The new Deadpool and Wolverine trailer poked fun at the character's co-creator Rob Liefeld, who responded to being roasted in the preview.

Now, fans believe that the singer herself might have given the final confirmation that she would be appearing as the Marvel character Dazzler in the upcoming Deadpool threequel. As noted by The Direct, fans have taken a line from "Clara Bow", the final track on Swift’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, which goes, “The future's bright, dazzling,” as proof positive that the pop star will be appearing as Dazzler in the upcoming MCU project. In addition to confirming her appearance in the film, it also dulls the position of those convinced that Swift’s role in Deadpool 3 wouldn’t be Dazzler. While this could be a coincidence, fans of Swift are quick to point out that this is par for the course for the singer, who frequently drops easter eggs in her songs.

While there’s no way to know whether or not Swift will be in the film or what role she could potentially take on until Deadpool & Wolverine releases, this latest bit of possible spoiler material is sure to keep the guessing game going until the premiere comes to theaters. This cameo is also just one of many that have been discussed, making it clear that Deadpool & Wolverine is not going to simply skate through cinemas on the fact that it's a solo release. However, this importance to the MCU puts pressure on those involved to deliver good performances. While Swift isn’t an actor, she’s no stranger to the sort of box-office success that Deadpool & Wolverine is liable to bring, as her Eras Tour movie further trounced The Flash’s box office run when it premiered in select theaters.

All in all, most fans are less concerned with who actually makes it into the final cut, as Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine was a substantial enough draw, and more concerned with the quality of the plot with so many moving parts involved. Beyond just the actual plot points, there’s a worry that Deadpool & Wolverine could highlight Marvel’s worst tendencies via the telltale MCU humor if it doesn’t stick to its more risque origins as it brings the characters into the generally more PG environment of the MCU.

Deadpool & Wolverine is set for theatrical release on July 26th, 2024.
