While Marvel Studios' Disney Plus shows initially focused on returning characters, 2022 has been all about introducing new and exciting additions to the cinematic universe, one being Tatiana Maslany's Jennifer Walters. Now, Maslany has teased how the upcoming She-Hulk: Attorney at Law series differs from the majority of superhero projects.

She-Hulk will see Walters, a lawyer and Bruce Banner's cousin who becomes a green superhero after a blood transfusion, replace Mark Ruffalo's Hulk. While brief footage debuted during Disney Plus Day this past November, the first full She-Hulk trailer was released on May 17, highlighting the many exciting storylines that await.

In a new interview with Empire, Maslany discussed the upcoming series, believing it to be something much different from the superhero narratives that have come before. “She really is the antithesis of most superhero narratives," the actress shared. "… There’s this great element of denial in her that’s relatable. For me, it was about rejecting what’s happened for as long as I could, as that’s what causes the fun tension between Jennifer and She-Hulk."

Maslany would also share her experiences working with Ruffalo, adding, “We were so goofy, like two kids who had been handed shovels by our parents and told to go and play in the sandbox.” Other than following Walters' difficulty trying to balance her career and her superhuman abilities, it should be equally interesting to see Bruce Banner serve as a mentor. This is especially true since Banner has now been able to combine his intelligence with the Hulk's strength and physical stature following more gamma experimentation.

Created by Jessica Gao (Rick and Morty, Robot Chicken, Silicon Valley), She-Hulk will consist of nine 30-minute episodes, most of which will be directed by Kat Coiro (Modern Family, Shameless, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia). The series, as confirmed by Kevin Feige, could potentially run for numerous seasons unlike other MCU limited projects like WandaVision. She-Hulk is also rumored to see the return of Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock/Daredevil, the blind lawyer turned vigilante who first made his MCU debut in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Joining Maslany and Ruffalo will be Tim Roth's Emil Blonsky/Abomination, Ginger Gonzaga as Walters' best friend, Renée Elise Goldsberry as Amelia, and Jameela Jamil as Titania, a supervillain who becomes She-Hulk's main foe.

Going off of Maslany's comments, in contrast to previous MCU shows (particularly Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel), it appears She-Hulk features a protagonist who has no desire to live the superhero life, as she is already living a successful life having an established career. Like previous Hulk projects, focusing on a character who is in denial and tries to avoid her abilities rather than accept them will be an interesting story to explore and one that will feel like a breath of fresh air for the MCU.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is set to premiere on Disney Plus on August 17, 2022.
