Shinji Mikami's Tango Gameworks' unannounced new project appears to have leaked online ahead of the Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct event scheduled on take place on January 25. The Tokyo-based company has developed the much-loved The Evil Within, and the more recent Ghostwire: Tokyo has recently been the subject of rumors.Tango Gameworks' next project has not been announced yet, and there has been no indication of what it is working on from official sources. The company was part of the $7.5 billion acquisition of ZeniMax Media by Microsoft in 2021, bringing key talent from the Japanese gaming industry into the Microsoft stable. Mikami himself is credited with directing some of Capcom's best-loved titles like the original Resident Evil and Dino Crisis, and remained with Capcom until 2004, going on to work with other industry heavyweights like PlatinumGames before establishing Tango Gameworks in 2010. Prolific insider billbil-kun has revealed details about Tango Gameworks upcoming project, saying that it will be announced or released soon, possibly at the upcoming Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct event. According to billbil-kun, the game is called Hi-Fi Rush and will come in a Standard and Deluxe Edition. Other evidence for the existence of Hi-Fi Rush includes a logo trademark and supposed concept art that appeared on ResetEra in December 2022. The unannounced game has supposedly also been rated TEEN by the ESRB.
Billbil-kun went on to stress that they weren't certain about when exactly the title will be announced after another user pointed out that Xbox executives are managing expectations by saying that only the four games already mentioned (hotly anticipated titles like Redfall, Forza Motorsport, and Minecraft Legends) would be discussed at the event. There was also no mention of the supposed concept art from billbil-kun, so that could be from a different game entirely. That said, some of the supposed concept art background has the words "Hi-Fi" in the background, albeit in a completely different font when compared to the Bethesda trademark.
Xbox and Bethesda fans don't have long to wait before the Developer Direct event airs. It could be that Xbox executives are downplaying the possibility of any new announcements to keep fans from speculating too wildly about what could potentially be announced at the upcoming event, but it is also possible that Tango Gameworks' upcoming project will only be announced later at another event like the Game Developer Conference (GDC) or PAX East in March 2023.
