Production for The Walking Dead spinoff series Tales of the Walking Dead hit a bit of a snag earlier this week when a crew member was reportedly seriously injured. The injury is said to have occurred on The Walking Dead spinoff’s set shortly after production had ended for the day.

As the original run of The Walking Dead is wrapping up its final season, many of its spinoffs are starting to ramp up and go full force into production. That includes the anthology series spinoff Tales of the Walking Dead, which has recently seen a number of hiring announcements including stars like Olivia Munn. While some actors are still being signed on, it appears that shooting has started on some of the new series’ scenes, and it was on set for one of those scenes that someone was injured.

According to Deadline, the incident occurred at the Stone Mountain Park set of Tales of the Walking Dead near Atlanta, Georgia. The publication said sources claimed the injury occurred after shooting had been completed, around 8:30 pm local time. While the exact nature of what happened hasn’t been released yet, it was serious enough to merit a 911 call. The incident reportedly took place around a riverboat that was on the set of Tales of the Walking Dead and a plank that connected the boat to a pier. A crew member fell off the plank into the water and was taken to a nearby hospital by an ambulance.

Deadline reported that multiple eyewitnesses said they saw the crew member fall off of the top dec of the boat and bounce off the lower level railing, before hitting the dock and falling into the water. The fall is said to be serious enough that she had to be pulled out of the water by a rescue crew, as she was unable to swim out. Both the boat and the dock had previously been deemed safe enough that they were routinely used by the Netflix original program Ozark.

On a related note, this is the second reported injury to happen on the set of a Walking Dead show in the last few months. Late last month, one of the biggest stars of the growing franchise in Norman Reedus missed several days worth of shooting after he suffered an apparent concussion. At the moment, it’s not known when the injured crew member might return to work.

Tales of the Walking Dead will premiere in the summer of 2022 on AMC and AMC Plus.
