For fans of Bandai Namco's Tales series, there has been no wait for a game as painstaking as the five year wait for Tales of Arise. Announced two years ago, this is the longest fans of the classic JRPG series have had to wait for a new entry since the series' inception. To make the wait for Tales of Arise easier, the game is set to be the most ambitious entry in the series yet, marking its debut on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and now the game's file size has been revealed.

Tales of Arise was first revealed at Microsoft's E3 2019 press conference. The game was revealed to be the first entry in the series to be built using Unreal Engine 4, re-imagining the series' beautiful worlds and action-based combat system in a brand new title aimed to appeal to both long-time fans and newcomers. Tales of Arise is also set to be one of the darkest entries in the series yet, a move made to appeal more to western fans to broaden the series' appeal.

While Bandai Namco is currently preparing for the release Scarlet Nexus, a new action game IP created by veterans of the Tales series, the file size for the PlayStation 5 version of Tales of Arise has leaked online well ahead of its multi-platform launch on September 10. According to PlayStation Game Size, a Twitter account dedicated to tracking file sizes for games uploaded to PlayStation Network for PS4 and PS5, Tales of Arise clocks in at 37.2GB. The account notes that this is without the inclusion of a possible day 1 patch.

As for why Bandai Namco has opt to make Tales of Arise's file size public on the PlayStation Store this early is unknown, it could just be that the developer wanted to make this information public well ahead of the game's release. There is also the possibility that Bandai Namco is preparing to release a demo for Tales of Arise and this is an indication of the file size of the demo. After all, Bandai Namco did just recently release a demo for Scarlet Nexus a month ahead of its launch. For now though, it's only fair to temper expectations before assuming that Tales of Arise will receive a public demo during E3.

Tales of Arise was originally set to release in 2020, however it was delayed to 2021 due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the game's development. The game will feature anime cutscenes from animation studio Ufotable, which is likely best known for its work on the anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and its record-breaking film Demon Slayer: Mugen Train.

Tales of Arise will release on September 10 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
