Tactics Ogre: Reborn is now available for purchase on PC and consoles. Square Enix commemorated today's occasion with a new launch trailer which serves as a brief introduction to the remastered version of the hit PSP game Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, showcasing its updated gameplay and refreshed graphics.

Tactics Ogre: Reborn is technically a remaster of a remake, seeing how the original Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together was released on the Super Famicom way back in 1995. The game's developer, Quest Corporation, was acquired by Square Enix in 2002 and then absorbed by its new parent the following year. This paved the way for a massively successful remake of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, which was released in Japan in 2010, a year before making its way to the West. The remaster has long been the subject of industry rumors before Square Enix finally announced Tactics Ogre: Reborn with a flashy trailer this past August.

Tactics Ogre: Reborn promises to deliver a more seamless gameplay experience compared to the base game, largely on account of its streamlined UI and a redesigned battle system meant to make even the most prolonged encounters feel snappy to navigate through. Additionally, Square Enix reworked the AI and adjusted enemy level caps across all stages in an effort to create a more linear learning curve, thus making the game more accessible.

What the launch trailer doesn't mention is that the remaster also introduces fully voiced cutscenes in both English and Japanese, as well as upscaled graphics true to the original's aesthetic, which influenced many of today's best pixel art games. Another technical improvement comes in the form of a remastered soundtrack which was recorded anew for this release.

The video promo concludes the brief marketing campaign Square Enix ran in the run-up to the release of its latest tactical RPG. A comparably succinct Tactics Ogre: Reborn story trailer already detailed the game's narrative late last month.

Apart from Tactics Ogre: Reborn, Square Enix today also released the action RPG Valkyrie Elysium. Both games arrive shortly after the long-awaited launch of Star Ocean: The Divine Force, with that trio accounting for less than half of the company's holiday season lineup. Square Enix is still planning to release Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song Remastered, Dragon Quest Treasures, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion, and Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis before the end of the year.

Tactics Ogre: Reborn is available now on PC, Switch, PS4, and PS5.
