Surviving being shipwrecked on a desert island isn't for the faint of heart, and neither is taking on the challenge in a virtual setting like in Survival: Fountain of Youth. This survival game has all the features that fans of the genre relish, including being not-so-forgiving to those who are unable to manage their health, hunger, and thirst.

While resource collection and crafting is at the heart of the game, players will need to guard their gear as best they can until they can store it, as there are consequences to running out of health and fainting. With this in mind, players should proceed with caution and with a sound knowledge of how to recover lost items in Survival: Fountain of Youth.

Do You Lose Your Loadout When You Die in Survival: Fountain of Youth?

Making it to another day in Survival: Fountain of Youthtakes a great deal of strategy and resourcefulness, as there are consequences to falling at the hands of negative status effects or attacks from the wildlife. If you die, or faint, as is the case in this game, you will lose all the items you are carrying and be taken to the closest rest point, where players will awaken without their loadout, but with a mild amount of recovered health, hunger, and thirst.

A rest point is distinguished as an area that was crafted for the purpose of sleeping. It can include anything from a primitive pile of leaves to some of the more advanced and more comfortable beds you can craft later in the game.

Fainting in Survival: Fountain of Youth can pose a significant challenge for players, as, depending on where they respawn, they can be vulnerable to attacks from animals without a way of protecting or defending themselves. So, to combat this, it would be wise to craft a few basic beds throughout the island, so players are not too far away from where they fell. The reason this is important is that it is possible to recover all items that were lost when dying, but it requires returning to the location where you fainted.

How to Recover Lost Items in Survival: Fountain of Youth

Theoretically, recovering items that players lose when they faint is a relatively straightforward process, but the mechanics in Survival: Fountain of Youth provide some additional obstacles that players will need to overcome to get their things back.

Firstly, players will need to get a lay of the land by climbing Cartographer's Trees and mapping out their surroundings, otherwise there will be no point of reference for tracking down the lost items. While it isn't impossible to get your resources back without the map, it is incredibly difficult to achieve, especially if you are not overly familiar with the area where you fainted.

In addition to mapping, players will also need to be able to identify the symbol on the map that coincides with lost items. While this isn't too hard to do, players will need to compete with the plethora of different symbols that indicate where all sorts of resources, from Big Branches and particular animals to Water Sources and points of interest, can be found on the island. Players will need to identify the Compass icon on the map, as this will show them where they can find the bag of lost items.

If you faint again without being able to retrieve your items, they won't be lost. So, even if you fall again in the process of recovering the materials you previously collected, there's still an opportunity to recover them.
