Survival: Fountain of Youth has all the ingredients of a great survival game that many fans of the challenging genre will eagerly want to sink their teeth into. The game provides many obstacles for players to overcome right from the beginning, from maintaining player health and warding off negative status effects, to exploring the unknown wilderness and crafting essential items for survival.

One common feature in survival and adventure games that may be taken for granted is the game's map, which players will not be able to access so easily in Survival: Fountain of Youth. This adds another layer of difficulty, as they won't be able to note their position as clearly or identify areas where crucial resources can be found. This, however, can be resolved if players know how to draw maps in Survival: Fountain of Youth.

Survival games are fairly common, but these titles are the best of the best, showcasing what exactly entices gamers to play out a fight to survive.

How To Map Regions in Survival: Fountain of Youth

To fit with the endurance and discovery themes of Survival: Fountain of Youth, players will not only need to traverse the wilderness in search of food, water, and shelter, they'll also need to get a lay of the land to strategize their survival on the game's islands. To do this, they will need to climb the tallest trees on the island and draw a map of the environment.

To map the regions in the game, players will need to climb Cartographer's Trees with a rope ladder during the day and draw the map using Mapping Charcoal. The trees are very easy to identify in Survival: Fountain of Youth, as they are significantly taller than any other environmental landmarks in the game, so you will be able to spot them from great distances.

While this sounds simple, in theory, it will require players to collect and craft a few resources before they can complete the task, namely the Liana Rope and Mapping Charcoal needed to craft the map.

Mapping can only be performed during the day, as players will need the sunlight to get a clear view of the surroundings.

How to Get Mapping Charcoal

An essential component to mapping regions is Mapping Charcoal, which essentially operates as your pencil when drawing up a map. It is a relatively simple resource to make, but there are a few requirements you need to fulfill first. For starters, players will need to get two Short Sticks, then they will need to build a fireplace and ignite it. Short Sticks are one of the many variations of wood that you can find on the different trees on the islands, but these are one of the easiest to find, as they are on most small trees or in scrap piles that can be dismantled, and they do not require any tools to harvest.

Once you have both of the above, crafting Mapping Charcoal is a simple matter of interacting with the fireplace to bring up the crafting menu, where you can also cook any raw foods and medicinal plants you have harvested, and select the Mapping Charcoal option at the very bottom. As it is a small resource with minimal components, the crafting time is very short.

How to Craft Rope in Survival: Fountain of Youth

The other crucial component to mapping a region is Liana Rope, as players will need to climb the incredibly tall Cartographer's Trees scattered throughout the islands to draw the details of the surroundings from up there. To get to the top of the tree, players will need to fashion a ladder, which can be done by crafting some rope.

To craft rope, players will need to acquire two items; Liana and Narrow Leaves. Liana can be found on large trees that have thick vines around them, which can be identified on the map by the circular vine symbol. Narrow Leaves are more readily available, as they can be found anywhere along the coast, either on Palm Trees or lying loose on the ground.
