There's change brewing in the little town of Smallville, and a new trailer for season 3 of Superman & Lois has some exciting glimpses into what's coming. The CW's family-focused take on DC's most recognizable superhero has lots to look forward to, and that includes a new addition to the cast.

Ahead of the upcoming release of Superman & Lois season 3, The CW has unveiled a short new trailer teasing fans with what they can expect after the show's unexpected season 2 finale. For the most part, it seems like standard action-stuffed fare for a show about a superhero doing superhero stuff. But those who have stuck around since the beginning will quickly notice an unfamiliar face with a familiar name, and that isn't the only surprise.

The trailer, posted on The CW Network YouTube channel, hits the ground running with a blink-and-miss-it slideshow celebrating the birthday of Clark Kent/Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane's (Elizabeth Tulloch) twin sons Jonathan and Jordan. But while Alex Garfin's familiar mug can be seen once again playing Jordan, Jonathan now has a new visage thanks to Michael Bishop, who has taken over as the character following the departure of Jordan Elsass from Superman & Lois.

Immediately after, Lois reveals to a seemingly dumbfounded Clark that she thinks she's pregnant, before the trailer kicks into the more high-octane action one might expect from an adaptation about a flying punchy man. Clark/Superman reveals that Lois is missing and flies into action in his new super suit. Meanwhile, her father General Sam Lane reacts appropriately. Afterward, Kent family friend John Henry Irons (Wolé Parks) appears ready to assist. A few other flashes hint at John's daughter Natalie (Tayler Buck) getting in on the action via her power armor just like her dad.

The elephant in the room involves Bishop taking over as Jonathan Kent, a relatively new version of one of Superman's oft-forgotten children in the comics. Elsass, who had previously played the character, reportedly left the role for "personal reasons." However, the timing was pretty suspect, given how the actor had made some public remarks against vaccines only a few months prior. It wouldn't be the first time a big studio has "coincidentally" decided to fire someone for unrelated reasons shortly after the person made some harmful comments.

Regardless, aside from one different face, this still feels like the Superman & Lois fans have grown to love over the past 2 seasons. Here's hoping season 3 retains the quality that's kept viewers glued to their screens all this time.

Superman & Lois season 3 will premiere March 14th on The CW.
