James Gunn's DCU reboot hopes to start strong with Superman: Legacy and has already cast several superheroes to appear in the film. This fan art gives a good look at what the cast could look like fully suited up.

Gunn announced the casting of David Corrensweet as Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. The casting for Superman and Lois Lane had been thorough, and fans could follow Gunn's updates on the process for a while. Fans were surprised when Gunn dropped a bombshell announcement that Nathan Fillion will play Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced will play Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi will play Mister Terrific.

This fan art by Youssef Mohammed on Instagram shows what the cast of Superman: Legacy might look like as their respective characters. Mohammed's concept for Mr. Terrific has more of a hi-tech suit and gives him one of his tech-based weapons, the T-Sphere. The Guy Gardner concept is nearly perfect, giving him his classic leather vest, but one thing is missing. Gunn said he will give Fillion a bowl cut to play the character.

Additionally, Mohammed's concept for Hawkgirl gives a great look at the winged warrior. Hawkgirl has her trusty mace and large wings but opted out of the helmet she usually wears for this concept. Finally, there are the films' main characters, Superman and Lois. While there are many suits to choose from and fans don’t know which one Gunn will choose, Mohammed opted for a fan favorite New-52 suit for Corrensweet. Lois Lane has her reporter suit on and her camera at the ready. Mohammed hasn’t made concept art for Anthony Carrigan, who is set to play Metamorpho yet.

Gunn's castings have been controversial among some fans, questioning if there are too many characters in the film and if they are only there to set up other movies. Gunn has addressed this by saying that the main characters are Clark Kent and Lois Lane and that these other characters are there to help tell Superman's story.

Overall Mohammed's concepts are interesting, as they take bits and pieces of the characters' different iconic comic book suits while giving his twist on the designs. Fans must wait to see what the characters will look like in Superman: Legacy, which is expected to start filming in January but may get delayed with the ongoing strikes.

Superman: Legacy is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 11, 2025.
