Super Smash Bros. Ultimate only has two more DLC fighters left to go until its roster is finally complete. While there is certainly demand for a third Fighter's Pass just so even more characters can be added, director Masahiro Sakurai has insisted that the current set of DLC will be the game's last. Sakurai's own comments haven't dissuaded some people, though, and there's even a new theory going around that there could be one more bonus character planned for the game.

The theory comes from Reddit user RiuBert who theorizes that, despite Fighters Pass 2 being advertised as having six characters, a seventh one will release after the pass is completed. Their evidence comes from the unique codes every Nintendo product receives (be they game, DLC, or console). Called NSUIDs, they can be found on Nintendo's websites.

Each piece of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC, including both the characters and the Mii Fighter costumes, has their own NSUID, which can be seen in the URL. For this theory, RiuBert used the codes found on the New Zealand website. Interestingly, starting from Piranha Plant (who, while not part of the first Fighter's Pass, was the first DLC character), the codes ascend numerically. For example, Piranha Plant's code is 70050000008501, Joker is 70050000008502, and so on until Byleth, the last character in the first Fighter's Pass. This is then followed by the Mii costume of Rex from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which is labelled with the code 70050000008507 and is given as a bonus for purchasing Fighter's Pass 1.

The same applies for Fighter's Pass 2. Min Min, the first character, has the code 70050000018967 and the numbers again ascend chronologically up to Pyra/Mythra, who have the code 70050000018970. The two unannounced fighters have the codes 70050000018971 and  70050000018972 respectively. But, curiously, the bonus Mii costume that comes with the pass is listed with 70050000018974. Basically, the code ending with 73 isn't used.

Many have concluded that this means there will be another playable fighter added, but that may not necessarily be the case. While there is a strong possibility that it could be Smash Bros. related, it might be a different piece of DLC entirely, like another Mii Fighter costume or a new stage.

Even if it is a new character, that doesn't mean it will be one the heavily requested picks like Crash Bandicoot or Sora. If they're not being included in Fighter's Pass 2 and being treated like a bonus similar to Piranha Plant, then it could very well be another first-party Nintendo character and not a special third-party guest.

For the time being, fans must wait for actual information from Nintendo and Sakurai. At the moment, it's probably still too soon to expect the next character to be announced, as Pyra/Mythra was only added to the game a month ago. In fact, the penultimate fighter likely won't be revealed until E3 in the summer, which Nintendo is attending.
