The Fire Emblem series is lauded for its storytelling and diverse character roster, and that has translated into many characters making the jump into the Smash Bros. universe. However, not everyone is happy with this, and one fan has even gone as far as to create a mod that eliminates all traces of Fire Emblem from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

With the amount of Fire Emblem characters in the game, many fans have felt fatigued from the franchise, thinking that other characters from other games deserve a chance. The mod, entitled "No More Fire Emblem!", removes all characters and stages from the game that are tied to the series.

The mod was created by a mod developer known as Akrenix. It's unclear whether the developer dislikes the amount of Fire Emblem in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate or simply wanted to create something for those that are tired of the series in the game. Motives may be unknown, but players looking for a game void of Fire Emblem content will rejoice at the sight of this mod.

As the Fire Emblem series publisher, Nintendo has grabbed its fair share of characters from the games, numbering 8 in total. However, only 1 of those characters, Byleth, is available as DLC. In a game with 80 characters, 10% of the game's roster is from the Fire Emblem series. Two more characters remain to be announced as the final DLC.

While the Fire Emblem series has often been a staple in the Smash Bros. franchise, there seems to be even more of an uproar due to some glaring omissions, such as Waluigi. However, Waluigi comes from the Super Mario franchise that dominates with 9 characters on the roster, with 1 from DLC. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate reaches out to various franchises, from its own like Super Mario, to Fatal Fury, and even Final Fantasy VII.

The mod is available now for download, although it doesn't appear to have been updated or the source code provided. Comments asking for the stated files have not been responded to, having been left for 28 days as of this writing. As with any mod for any game, players should take precautions before installing it.

Even with some players tired of Fire Emblem in the game, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate continues to be successful, with over 22 million units sold worldwide. The latest DLC, containing Pyra and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles, was released at the beginning of March. Future dates for DLC have not been announced at this time.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
