Today has been a big day for fans of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The reveal of a new DLC fighter has many members of the Super Smash Bros. community looking forward to what's to come. Though, there was actually a key detail that many fans may have overlooked or not fully realized during the course of the trailer.

As previously mentioned, a new DLC fighter was announced earlier today and it turned out to be Steve from Minecraft. This led to much excitement from fans of both games and opens up a wide range of possibilities in terms of gameplay. However, perhaps one of the coolest features included with the newest DLC character are the various skins players get to choose from while playing.

Character skins are a fairly common occurrence across all the Super Smash Bros. titles. In the earlier games, they were just color swaps of the various characters. This was used to distinguish players apart from each other, in case they picked the same character. Though, in the case of Pikachu, there was simply varying types of headwear.

Since then, the character skins have gotten a lot more complex and with the Steve DLC, there are various different skins to choose from. There are of course male and female skins with differing skin colors and clothing, but there are also two special variants. Both the zombie and Enderman from Minecraft both make an appearance as character skins.

Many Smash Bros. fans already can't wait to get their hands on the new DLC character and see what makes it tick. Although, it did take some time for a new character to be announced. Min Min from ARMS was announced several months back and up until now, there had been nearly radio silence from both Nintendo and Sakurai in terms of when fans could expect more Smash Bros. related news.

It's almost a relief that a new character has finally been announced. Over the course of the last several months, there have been numerous forms of online speculation and debate over what the new character would be. During that time, practically all of those supposed leaks and speculation had been debunked. As of today, the rumor that Tracer from Overwatch been officially debunked, though there could be hope for the future. After all, Nintendo has until the end of next year to announce all of the remaining DLC fighters.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate  is available now exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
