Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been talked about nonstop since revealing that Minecraft’s Steve is joining the roster yesterday, with fan and developer requests for more crossover characters. The fighting game is not going to stop being brought up anytime soon, as Xbox France is pushing for Halo's Master Chief to join the Smash Bros. roster.

Master Chief within Smash Bros. seems like a natural fit, and it is easy to think of what moves the power armored hero can have due to Halo’s iconic weaponry. While 343 has been busy quashing rumors regarding Halo Infinite’s release date, the official Twitter account for Xbox France has been discussing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. In a post sharing excitement regarding the addition of Steve to the game, a fan name NaonedGames replied asking Xbox France when Master Chief will be coming to Smash.

The Xbox France Twitter account wasted no time replying to the comment, keeping the Smash tone by saying “he’s still waiting for an invitation.” A gif attached shows Chief within a ship gazing at a Halo ring in a way that would be a perfect fit for a Smash Bros. character reveal trailer. Though this is likely just playful discussion, fans have wanted Chief in Smash for some time and this comment that Xbox wants the same thing is certainly nice to see. With new features supposedly being added to Halo Infinite because of its delay, Chief’s move-set could become even deeper than expect when and if he is added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

With some dedicated Halo 3 fans still playing the 360 game daily, members of the Halo community would certainly be willing to grab a Switch to make their favorite Spartan faceoff with characters like Solid Snake. The Xbox icon is one of the most recognizable characters in video games, and considering Nintendo already worked with Microsoft to bring Minecraft to Smash Bros, anything is possible when it comes to Chief’s possible addition to the roster.

Master Chief may need to get in line, however, as another classic video game series also made a pitch to join the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate character lineup. The official Tetris Twitter account pushed for a Smash appearance late last night, with the odd crossover also being a possibility due to the series’ strong relationship with Nintendo. While the beloved blocks have a less concrete move set than Chief, Overwatch’s Tracer may also be arriving in Smash and is a perfect fit for the fighting game.

Nintendo clearly has numerous options for their next Smash invitation, though it can be assumed that none will be as hard to design as the Minecraft DLC. Still, if Xbox fans (and Xbox itself) have their way, Master Chief will be fighting his way to Smash soon enough.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now on Nintendo Switch.
