Fans of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate have been waiting with bated breath for new characters to be revealed for the game, especially with the official release getting closer, and the last new character, Isabelle from Animal Crossing, being confirmed two months ago. As of today, however, director Masahiro Sakurai revealed the final two characters that will appear as part of the base roster with Incineroar from Pokemon and Ken Masters from Street Fighter.

A Nintendo Direct earlier today focused purely on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Sakurai kicked things off with a new trailer that showed off the two new fiery fighters. The first, Ken, was confirmed to be an Echo Fighter of Ryu, sharing many of his fellow street fighter's moves while still having his own distinctive flare and more of a focus on kicking attacks. He'll also have two different Final Smashes depending on his distance compared to other fighters.

The latest Super Smash Bros. Ultimate trailer then segued to Incineroar, the final evolution of one of the starter Pokemon from the most recent set of games, Pokemon Sun & Moon. It boasts several wrestling-style moves like grapples and lariats, as well as a Final Smash based off of its unique Z-Move attack from its home games.

While these are the last two characters to be confirmed, Sakurai did promise that more fighters will be on the way as DLC. However, the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director didn't give any inkling as to who they could be.

This new Direct almost totally debunks the most recent leak, which suggested that seven more characters would be announced for the game. While Ken was among them, the rest–Shadow the Hedgehog, Isaac from Golden Sun, Banjo-Kazooie, Geno from Super Mario RPG, Mach Rider, and the Chorus Kids from Rhythm Heaven–have seemingly been unconfirmed as playable characters. That said, though, Shadow and Isaac will be appearing as Assist Trophies. Nevertheless, with DLC on the table, there's still a slim chance that could change.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will launch on December 7, 2018 for Nintendo Switch.
