Nintendo has been truly hyping up audiences today at its E3 2019 press conference, where it has been revealing some interesting DLC characters planned for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The latest was a surprise appearance by everyone's favorite bear and bird team from the Banjo-Kazooie series.

After a bit of a fake-out from that irksome Duck Hunt dog in a cinematic opening, Banjo and his pal Kazooie descend from the sky and slam down right on top of him in a very satisfying display. What follows is a peek at how Banjo handles himself in a fight, which includes plenty of help from Kazooie, of course.

Banjo will use a plethora of moves from his series of games, along with familiar items like eggs and gold feathers. Spiral Mountain, the opening area of Banjo-Kazooie will be available as a fighting stage in Smash Bros. Ultimate, where the wicked Gruntilda makes an appearance. Audiences also got a look at Banjo's Ultimate, which calls on the power of the mighty Jinjos. According to the trailer, Banjo will make it to the game some time in Fall 2019.

While the trailer came as a surprise to many, rumors that Banjo-Kazooie were coming to Super Smash Bros. have been circulating for many days before the press event. Fans were on the edge of their seats during the presentation, hoping these rumors panned out, and thankfully, they did. There are a lot of characters players would love to see added to the game, but Banjo has long been a popular choice. This move by Nintendo is pleasing news to all of those who enjoy the antics of this unlikely duo.

This wasn't the only big Smash Bros. news to come from the Nintendo event. Another fighter was announced shortly before Banjo-Kazooie. The Dragon Quest Hero DLC will add a new character to the roster that will be able to take on the appearance and abilities of the four different protagonists from Dragon Quest 11, Dragon Quest 8, Dragon Quest 4, and Dragon Quest 3.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
