Super Smash Bros. Ultimate had an exciting Direct earlier this month revealing that the long-requested Sora from the Kingdom Hearts franchise will be the final DLC character. Although many fans are ecstatic to see Sora finally added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, some fans are also sad. Most of the sadness doesn’t come from the fact that Sora is the last character but more so that there won’t be any more DLC characters added afterward.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has had a lot of work over the years in managing to incorporate different video game characters from various franchises into the beloved fighting game. With almost 40 different video game franchises included in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, one will be hard-pressed to argue that Nintendo didn’t do enough here. That being said, there are plenty of characters that fans would have loved to see added.

A Reddit user by the name of Quetzal000 has taken a look at the various requested video game characters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and compiled them into a tribute video. The comical black and white video showcased a wide range of characters, including some popular ones such as Dante (Devil May Cry), Spyro, Shadow (Sonic the Hedgehog), Master Chief (Halo), and many more. The video also showed plenty of lesser-known but still requested video game characters such as The Knight (Hollow Knight) and Shovel Knight (Shovel Knight franchise). Of course, at the very end is Waluigi, the part-meme, part serious request from many fans since Super Smash Bros. Ultimate debut.

The fact at the end of the day still remains that there won’t be any more DLC characters added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It’s partially a shame considering how many different videos game characters would have been amazing to see in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate such as the ones listed in the video. That being said, because of licenses costs, it’s quite possible some of these might have been unrealistic to acquire. Fans understand this though and have recently taken to Twitter to express their gratitude to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director, Sakurai, for his contribution over the years.

Although many characters are still missing, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has done an amazing job of pulling various video games characters and faithfully incorporating their unique abilities and style into their move sets. As it stands, there are so many characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate that some fans are even forgetting some exist.

It’s by far the largest fighting video game of all time and that’s partially due to the juggernaut additions to the roster such as Sora which comes out tomorrow. Even though more characters won’t be added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the characters listed in the video could still one day appear in future installments
