Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Kingdom Hearts fans will not have to wait long for the Sora Amiibo, as Nintendo revealed that the long-awaited figure will hit store shelves on February 16, 2024. While Nintendo did not say if or when preorders would take place for the final Amiibo in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate lineup, the news was met with excitement from fans of both series.

Though Sora's arrival in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate marked the end of active character development for the game, that has not stopped series creator Masahiro Sakurai from being busy. Ever since Sora's release in late 2021, Sakurai has taken to YouTube to post videos about the creative process of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and has touched upon the basic principles of game development. While it remains to be seen if and when there will be a future title in the Super Smash Bros. series on Nintendo's next console, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will have one final Amiibo join the lineup in the coming months.

Smash Creator Wanted Rumored Switch 2 Feature on GameCube

Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai describes a feature he wanted about the GameCube controller that may appear on the rumored Switch 2.

On February 16, the Sora Amiibo for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will hit store shelves. While the MSRP and preorder window were not revealed at the time of writing, Nintendo posted a short clip on social media to advertise it. The Sora Amiibo featured Kingdom Hearts' main protagonist in the attire he wore in the first Kingdom Hearts game, with his signature Kingdom Key in tow. It is currently not known if other Amiibo figures will be designed for Sora's other outfits from games such as Kingdom Hearts 2. Even though the Sora Amiibo was initially revealed back in September by Nintendo, the figure's release date was not known at the time.

Like other Amiibo figures from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Sora can be used as an Amiibo fighter that can be leveled up to 50. The Amiibo can then face other players and Amiibo fighters in free-for-all battles. The arrival of this final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Amiibo came two years after Sora was announced as the final DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Reaction to the Sora Amiibo has been overwhelmingly positive on social media, as fans expressed their excitement and anticipation of when the figure could be ordered.

Even though Amiibo figures of popular characters tend to sell out quickly, Nintendo confirmed major Amiibo restocks in time for the holiday season. However, fans of Kingdom Hearts and Super Smash Bros. must act quickly once Nintendo starts taking orders.
