For how old Super Mario Sunshine is, the game has still managed to impress a surprising amount of players in the modern day. With its unique controls, bright and colorful art design, and memorable soundtrack, Super Mario Sunshine still has a lot to offer players. However, the game's difficulty may be a bit too much for some players, so to balance this one individual has found a way to improve the experience for new players.

If there's one mainstay that the Mario games are best known for, it's their wide variance of collectibles to find. The location and secrecy of these collectibles have ranged in difficulty over the years. The recent Paper Mario: The Origami King had a cacophony of different collectibles for players to find that were well hidden. Although, one could argue that Super Mario Sunshine is home to some of the most infuriating collectibles in the series.

The infamous blue coins are scattered all over Super Mario Sunshine's world and levels in tricky locations, but a Reddit user by the name of Icy-Cartographer3143 developed an app that helps players 100 percent all of the blue coins found in Super Mario Sunshine. For those playing the game for the first time on the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection or returning fans who just want to find all the blue coins, this app should come in handy.

As the number of video game players continues to expand all across the world, apps like this have started to become more commonplace within the community. This is especially the case for more popular games, like Animal Crossing: New Horizons. One fan developed an app that helped players track turnip prices, trading, and a whole lot of other features.

It could just be due to the limited availability of Super Mario 3D All-Stars, but it seems now more than ever a lot of people are going back and experiencing or re-experiencing older Nintendo games like Super Mario Sunshine. In fact, new mods of the game are being developed, like how one player turned every NPC in Super Mario Sunshine into a chuckster.

In any case, it will be interesting to see what the future holds in terms of 3D Mario platformers. Given the success of Super Mario Odyssey and the more recent Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, it seems likely that a new 3D Mario platformer would greatly benefit Nintendo. Only time will tell when or if that will get announced.

Super Mario Sunshine is available now on GameCube and Switch.
