As a result, the ROM of the game was leaked onto the Internet, allowing PCs that can run Nintendo Switch emulators to play it early. From this leak, OatmealDrome was able to determine that the game was running on a version of the Unity Engine, find the game's internal codename, and even the name of the developer that assisted with the remake. This is one of many Nintendo Switch games that have gotten leaked this year, and it likely won't be the last either, as PC emulation and broken street dates are a common problem among Nintendo releases. This past October, Super Mario Bros. Wonder was leaked less than a week ahead of its release, which resulted in gamers doing speedruns of the game early. Other Nintendo Switch games like Tears of the Kingdom and Pikmin 4 were also leaked before their launches in 2023.
