If you played Super Mario Odyssey, then you likely noticed the countless nods to past games, including a few familiar faces. One major character that didn't even make an appearance was poor, neglected Luigi. Luckily for fans of the forgotten Mario brother, he'll be returning in a free update for the game.

This February, Luigi's Balloon World will add two new modes to Super Mario Odyssey, Hide It and Find It. Hide It gives players a limited amount of time to hide balloons throughout the world. Find It does the opposite, tasking players with finding balloons hidden by other players.

The fashion-conscious will appreciate the additional costumes that will be added to the game, as well. Soon, players will be able to dress Mario up in Sunshine Shades and accompanying outfit, clearly inspired by Super Mario Sunshine. The Musical Hat and outfit will help Mario fit in better with Pauline's band, and the Knight Helmet and armor matches perfectly with the seemingly Dark Souls-inspired Ruined Kingdom. Luigi also gets into the fashion game with a kicky new bowtie.

This is the first new update for Super Mario Odyssey since it released back in October of last year, where it garnered unbelievably positive criticism from outlets worldwide. Game ZXC even gave its stamp of approval with a perfect score in our review of the game.

Since its release, there has been plenty of time for players to collect all the available outfits and obtain all the stars in the game. Beyond that, there isn't much else to do, and players have been looking for new ways to enjoy Super Mario Odyssey. Some have discovered glitches, such as one that helps with the frustrating jump rope challenge. One player discovered that Super Mario Odyssey could technically be completed without jumping, which presented an interesting challenge. And there are others, like speedrunners, who have created some very unconventional records for players to beat.

Now that the game is getting new content, this should satisfy hungry players who aren't quite ready to leave the fascinating world of Super Mario Odyssey.

Super Mario Odyssey is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
