Long time Nintendo fans are likely familiar with My Nintendo and its rewards program. By purchasing games and registering them with their My Nintendo account, players earn points that can be exchanged for digital goods, like a free trial to the Nintendo Switch Online Service, as well as physical goods that will be mailed to their home. Now it seems Nintendo has added some new physical goods to itsrewards program themed after the recently released Super Mario 3D All-Stars.
Players that have accumulated 800 Platinum Points on My Nintendo have two new options to redeem their points for. Players looking to take more game cartridges on the go with them may want to look at the Mario Zipper Case. The small red zipper case features Mario's face on it and seems perfect for a small pair of headphones.
The other physical reward players can get for 800 Platinum Points is more closely tied to the release of Super Mario 3D All-Stars. Players can now order a set of three posters that feature the original box art for Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. These posters also have a little logo for Super Mario 3D All-Stars at the bottom.
Nintendo seems to be adding several new physical rewards to the My Nintendo Program lately. Before these Mario-themed rewards, players were treated to new physical rewards from Animal Crossing: New Horizons. These new items included a Tom Nook keychain, a Dodo Airlines bag, a Nook family bag, and a Leaf Bandanna.
While these rewards are certainly exciting for Nintendo fans around the world, it seems that Nintendo might be favoring its Japanese audience with the most exciting rewards. Earlier this year, My Nintendo Japan revealed that players could exchange 400 Platinum Points for the highly sought after Super Smash Bros. Invitation Letter Set. And while some fans of Nintendo may not be a fan of Smash Bros., it is still disappointing that these rewards aren't standard around the world.
Nintendo seems to have pleased several players with these Mario collectibles, however, other players may argue that the developer isn't doing enough with the rewards program. In previous generations, players could exchange the Points they had accumulated for digital games or themes on their 3DS or Wii U. And while this isn't currently in place for the Nintendo Switch, hopefully Nintendo will think to add it for their most loyal fans soon.
