Super Mario Maker2, one of GameStop's most pre-ordered games of E3 2019, has been receiving a lot of attention from Switch owners and Twitch streamers as of late, and the Mario Maker community is already making some extremely creative, and challenging, custom levels. However, one of the courses created by popular Twitch streamer, and diehard Super Mario Maker 2 player, GrandPooBear has been removed from the game's hub of course uploads, and there has been little explanation as to why.

The Super Mario Maker 2 level in question was a zero-gravity course, titled "Pile of Poo: Kai-Zero G," and it offered a significant challenge to any player that had the chance to download it. Requiring precisely timed jumps and consideration of non-existent gravity, GrandPooBear's level was not for the faint of heart, and a video demonstrating it can be seen below.

As indicated by the video, GrandPooBear's level, which has been one of Super Mario Maker 2's most-played Super Expert difficulty courses, is not an obviously offensive or explicit course. In fact, the level appears completely beatable and very fair to players interested in an extreme zero-gravity challenge. However, it has ultimately been removed from the Super Mario Maker 2 servers.

In a tweet, GrandPooBear provided context for the removal, stating that Nintendo previously deleted all of his levels in the first Super Mario Maker. While he was concerned that his levels had been removed due to the word "Poo," a word that certainly pales in comparison to some of the inappropriate Super Smash Bros. Ultimate levels removed by Nintendo, he was assured that this was not the case. GrandPooBear's tweet goes on to share an email from Nintendo regarding the removal of Pile of Poo: Kai-Zero G.

As stated by Nintendo's email, GrandPooBear's course was deleted due to "inappropriate and/or harmful content." However, given the lack of such content in GrandPooBear's level, one might assume there are other reasons behind Nintendo's decision. GrandPooBear hypothesizes that one such reason could be his history of uploading gameplay of ROM hacks, and other content frowned upon by Nintendo, to one of his channels, but this is based mostly on speculation and doesn't explain why only one of GrandPooBear's uploaded Super Mario Maker 2 courses was eliminated.

With the email stating that "this is Nintendo's final decision," it seems very unlikely that GrandPooBear's removed Super Mario Maker 2 level will ever be reinstated. However, hopefully players will someday have a second chance to play GrandPooBear's inventive but patience-testing level.

Super Mario Maker 2 is out now for Nintendo Switch.
