Super Mario Bros. Wonder is true to its 2D predecessors in many different ways, but the most notable is arguably its use of lives. Running out of lives will result in a game over and players being sent back to the hub world, losing any progress that they may have made on the course that they were playing on when the game over was triggered.

How to Get Infinite Lives in Mario Wonder

There are a few different ways to get more lives in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Players can collect 100 coins, purchase them from Poplin Shops using Flower Coins, or bounce off of eight enemies in a row without touching the ground. It's this last method that works best for getting infinite lives in Super Mario Wonder, as after the eighth bounce, every subsequent hit will grant an additional extra life, allowing savvy players to rack up lives incredibly quickly.

The best course for getting infinite lives is arguably Scram, Skedaddlers! in World 1, as players will have access to it almost right away. After starting the course, they'll want to make their way through the level until they come to a red Koopa Troopa, at which point, they'll either want to stomp on its head and pick it up by holding the Y button or have Yoshi lick it into his mouth. They can then take the shell a little further to the right until they come to some red and green pipes.

After killing the Skedaddlers, players should push the first green pipe to the right until there's only a tiny gap between it and the nearby red pipe. This pipe will need to be wide enough for the player's character to fit into, so it's a good idea to push the pipe a little bit at a time to avoid pushing it too far. Next, players should throw or spit the shell into the gap and then prepare themselves for the Mario Wonder infinite lives trick.

The aim here is to jump on the shell and then do a small jump before sliding down the red pipe. As soon as players bounce off the shell again, they'll want to repeat the last two steps so that they are repeatedly bouncing off the shell without touching the ground. If done correctly, they'll earn an extra life on the eighth bounce and gain one more for each successful jump afterward. Players should hold right and gently flick the edge of their thumb off the side of the A button each time they touch the shell until they have the desired amount of lives.

Figuring out the correct rhythm can be a little tricky, but after a minute or two, players should be able to get the pattern down pretty easily.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is available now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
