Super Mario Bros. Wonder has revealed the magical Wonder Flowers will let Mario transform into a Goomba along with a variety of other effects. The newest 2D Mario adventure has already seen a plethora of reveals showcasing Mario's upcoming adventure through the mystical and wondrous world of the Flower Kingdom. Past trailers have shown off everything from co-op play and Daisy's first time being playable in a main-series game to Mario transforming into an elephant. Now, a new batch of reveals has given players a deeper look into Mario's next game.

Wednesday's Super Mario Bros. Wonder Direct saw plenty of big reveals for the upcoming 2D platformer, showcasing both mechanics and new power-ups. Alongside iconic returning power-ups like the Fire Flower, Nintendo would reveal plenty of new power-ups coming to Super Mario Bros. Wonder including the Bubble and Drill abilities. The Super Mario Bros. Wonder presentation showed off the game's Badge system, allowing for enhanced movement with a variety of new techniques. The newest broadcast would also showcase Wonder Effects, the game's main gimmick.

Nintendo's recent Super Mario Bros. Wonder-themed Direct broadcast would give players a deeper look at the game's Wonder Effects, a highlight of past trailers. Touching Wonder Flowers can have a variety of effects depending on the stage, including transforming Mario into a Goomba or a Spike Ball. Several of Super Mario Bros. Wonder's Wonder Effects will affect the in-game stages, creating a stampede of enemies that players will have to navigate or sending players floating through space. Some Wonder Effects even have major impacts on the way the game is played, tilting the stage or shifting it into a top-down perspective.

The broadcast would detail the usefulness of Wonder Flower segments within Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Players can earn Wonder Seeds both by navigating the "Wonder" segments of each stage, as well as receiving one as a reward for clearing stages. Nintendo also teased special unlockable stages within Super Mario Bros. Wonder that players can access by collecting a set amount of Wonder Seeds.

With a plethora of new power-ups and mechanics for Mario's newest adventure, Super Mario Bros. Wonder will be saying goodbye to a franchise staple with the game. Nintendo would reveal longtime Mario voice actor Charles Martinet will be stepping down from voicing Mario, shifting into a brand ambassador position with the franchise. Martinet has been the voice of Mario since 1994 and also voiced several other main characters including Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi. Super Mario Bros. Wonder will be the beginning of a new era for the Mario franchise when it launches later this year.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder will release on October 20th for the Nintendo Switch.
