With the Switch's current lineup for 2020 looking somewhat empty, it makes sense that Nintendo will be looking to bring some of the best games from the last generation to its flagship console this year. While many of the major Wii U staples have already made their way to the Switch, including Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and New Super Mario Bros. U, there's still a number of the console's heaviest hitters that have yet to grace the Switch's lineup.
One such game is 2013's Super Mario 3D World. However, a notoriously accurate leaker by the name of Sabi seems to think that might not be the case for much longer. Posting a tease on Twitter regarding the Switch looking to add more Wii U ports to the Switch this year, Sabi received a question from an eager fan who asked him whether either Pikmin 3 or Super Mario 3D Land would be making the cut. Sabi responded with a major hint, stating "The whole world is better than just a bit of land."
With Sabi being a fairly reputable leaker, the statement appears to confirm that Switch owners will be getting Super Mario 3D World in the coming months, which is no doubt great news seen as the game is often held up as one of the Wii U's best exclusives. It also falls in line with a number of other recent reports that have cited the game as being next in line for a Switch port, with a leak from ResetEra early this month corroborating Sabi's claims.
For those who didn't play Super Mario 3D World, the game is co-op heavy platformer that allows Mario and friends to roam around a number of expansive 3D levels. It was a massive critical and commercial success, scoring a whopping 93 on Metacritic and finding a large following online. The responses to Sabi's tweets show just how passionate the game's loyal fanbase is, with the top comment simply reading "YES SABI I LOVE YOU." Clearly the game's return is an exciting prospect for many and will be one of the bigger ports to make its way to the console this year.
It appears it won't be alone, however. Despite Sabi not talking about the game, a Pikmin 3 remaster is heavily rumored to be coming to the Switch, while the upcoming port of The Outer Worlds received a release date yesterday as well. It's clearly going to be a big year for Switch ports, which will be great for console owners looking for something to play while they wait for Nintendo's biggest 2020 releases.
