Super Mario 3D All-Stars has received quite a lot of attention and praise from many in the gaming community. It's hard to believe that the game has only been out for two weeks and has since then captivated a cacophony of users. That popularity is now reflected in the Japanese sales charts, as Super Mario 3D All-Stars is dominating overall game sales.

When Nintendo first initially announced Super Mario 3D All-Stars as a limited-time release, it led to some irritation for some fans. The limited release strategy apparently did its job very well, in terms of selling a lot of units both overseas and in Japan. Now, the official sales of the game are now starting to reflect that.

The official Japanese game sales charts are in, and Super Mario 3D All-Stars is at the top of the list by an extremely wide margin. If Super Mario All Stars had problems with shortages before, then it might lead to bigger problems later on, if these sales are any indication. However, what was truly shocking was how much Nintendo dominated the overall sales charts.

Nine out of the top ten games sold in Japan this week were all games made specifically for Nintendo Switch. With Super Mario 3D All-Stars in the lead, followed behind by Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Ring Fit Adventure, and Mario Kart Deluxe. In fact, the only non-Nintendo games in the top ten were eFootball Winning Eleven 2021 Season Update by Konami and Minecraft.

It's amazing to see the amount of success this game has received in such a short amount of time. As of a few days ago, Super Mario 3D All-Stars is the second most successful Switch launch, right after Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and it shows no sign of slowing down. Though, the game has seen its fair share of logistical problems since its initial launch.

Due to the high volume of sales and pre-orders, there have been some inventory problems for physical copies of the game. This has led to scalpers offering astronomical prices on eBay, similar to console and graphics card pre-orders, with copies of the game selling for fifty dollars higher than the initial price of the game. Although, with any luck, inventory will be restocked soon and plenty of other people will be able to get their hands on the game.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars is available now exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
