An action-packed heist-based anime show called Super Crooks is heading to Netflix this fall, and it is oozing with '90s anime energy and supervillain renegades. Netflix recently released a teaser trailer for the anime that showcases an outstanding collection of thrilling spy adventures.

The upcoming series recalls anime classics like the space western noir Cowboy Bebop and racing anime Initial D. The all-Japanese dubbed anime follows a tremendous final heist and is set to premiere on Netflix on November 25th.

Super Crooks is based on a comic book series of the same name by comic legend Mark Millar that ran for four issues in 2012. Millar is known for series like Ultimate Fantastic Four and Kingsman: The Secret Service, among many others. Both the Super Crooks comic book and the upcoming anime adaptation feature Johnny Bolt, a man who has gotten through his life by the skin of his teeth by stealing every time he needs money. Bolt is caught up in the cycle of theft where every heist is "his last." Bolt often has a crew with him for large jobs and this time the heist will be his last (he swears).

The Super Crooks trailer is rampant with spy thriller references at every turn. First, the trailer opens with Johnny Bolt being freed from prison, where he promises to be a responsible citizen. Once he is out, however, he can't control his thirst for another heist, especially given how easy his superpowers make it. The trailer walks the audience through the crew members and some details surrounding the heist, which the characters argue must be nothing short of "legendary." Viewers are then introduced to The Gladiator, a disgraced and forgotten hero, alongside an old supervillain named The Heat and Bolt's ex-girlfriend Kasey, among others.

The iconic BONES studio, which has produced anime shows like My Hero Academia, will be producing the new series. Motonobu Hori, known for Beck, is directing the show with Ergo Proxy screenwriter Dai Sato writing the script. Super Crooks will consist of thirteen episodes that are thirty minutes long.

Super Crooks has an incredible team behind the project and it is exciting to have another adaptation of Millar's creative genius go to the screen. Heists are often topics for films and TV shows but come rarely in anime series. Will Bolt's incredible final heist actually be his last?
