To a lot of people, Tower of God was their first introduction to the vast and vibrant world of Manhwa and Webtoon. So when this series received a proper anime adaptation back in 2020, it didn’t take a long time for Tower of God to become one of the best series of the year.

The first season ended with one of the most shocking betrayals of the century. Fans of the series can’t wait to know what happened to our beloved characters and whether or not the traitor received the consequences of her actions. Unfortunately, there was no news about a new season at the time, so most people ended up jumping to the original manhwa or simply waiting for the new season to come. But as the old adage says, good things come to those who wait. The long-awaited new season is finally right around the corner. So here’s a little preview of what you can expect from the upcoming second season of Tower of God.

Here are some of the interesting things that you can expect from the upcoming iteration of Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest.

The Tower and Its Blinding Allure

Tower of God season 2

Before we talk about the anime adaptation, it’s important to know the structure of the original manhwa first. After all, the anime adaptation closely follows this structure. The story of Tower of God is divided into multiple parts. The first part covers the first 78 chapters, which translated into the first season of the anime. That means the second season will adapt the second part of the story, which has about 300+ chapters worth of content. By the way, the original manhwa is currently in the middle of the third part.

New Challengers

The story of Tower of God season 2 takes place 6 years after the end of the first season. Interestingly enough, although the upcoming Season 2 is undoubtedly a sequel to the first Tower of God, the story actually focuses on a brand new batch of characters and their struggle to climb the eponymous tower. Unlike the original challengers in the first season, the regulars in Season 2 will begin their journey from the 20th floor. So in a way, these are a group of veterans, unlike a bunch of rookies like in the first season.

That being said, this doesn’t mean the story totally abandons the characters from the first season. They are still there, climbing the tower the best they can. Now older and stronger, the characters from the first season will join halfway through the story. So expect to see tons of great character interaction in this new season.

"For what do you risk your life to climb the tower? Whatever you desire, you will find it here. Welcome to the Tower of God"

– Headon; Season 1, Episode 1

Lies and Secrets in New Places

One of the best things about the first season of Tower of God was the lies, secrets, and betrayals that happened throughout the season. It adds an additional layer of intrigue to what is already an interesting and exciting story. And you can expect the same thing with the second season. There will be more lies and betrayals in this new iteration of Tower of God. There’s even a big secret going on right at the beginning of Season 2. Needless to say, we won’t reveal that secret because it is a rather major spoiler.

Another thing that you can expect in Season 2 is the astounding new places. After all, Season 1 was well-known for showcasing all kinds of amazing structures and environments as the settings for the tests, such as the underground caves, the vast savanna, and the floating rest area. So it only makes sense for season 2 to unlock more parts of the tower. From the crowded living quarters on the 20th floor to the majestic castle where the princesses of Jahad reside, there will be so many staggering new places to see.

The Old and the New Faces

Tower of God Season 2 Jue Wangnan

As mentioned earlier, the second season of Tower of God will comprise mostly of new characters. The challengers, the examiners, the residents, the other members of the royal family, just to name a few. There will be so many new faces that we haven’t seen before. That being said, some of the familiar characters will also make an appearance later on in this series.

New Faces

Tower of God Season 2 New Characters

Let’s begin with the new characters. Since there are quite a few of them, let’s focus on four of the most notable ones. Jue Viole Grace is a quiet and mysterious young man who is actually way stronger than he looks. Ja Wangnan is a kind and energetic young man who has been taking the exam for the 20th floor multiple times until his luck changes when he meets Jue.

Yeon Yihwa is a beautiful young woman who comes from one of the ten noble families. She is actually kind and considerate but she is also short-tempered and won’t hesitate to use foul language when she feels upset. Last but not least, Kang Horyang is a man with a towering physique and a strange power, though he is actually a gentle giant who would only fight out of necessity.

Returning Characters

Tower of God Season 2 Rachel Khun

Several familiar characters from the first season will appear later on in the story, but let’s focus on two of the most important ones. Khun Aguero Agnis and Rachel. Khun is still the cunning young man just as we know him from the first season. Following Bam’s wish, he and their trusted companions still try their best to climb the tower with Rachel. As for Rachel herself, she is still the same two-faced woman who won’t hesitate to fool and betray her own companion. She currently lives with Khun and the others on the 25th floor of the tower.
