In 2020, Rocksteady Studios revealed Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the studio's first project after completing its beloved Batman: Arkham trilogy. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's reveal trailer ended with a message telling fans to expect the game in 2022. Needless to say, anticipation for Rocksteady's game is very high. 2022 has now arrived and little more has been said about Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. That's perhaps for a good reason, as it's now being reported that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's released date has been pushed back. The report comes from Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, who says on Twitter that Warner Bros. Interactive has "quietly delayed" Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League into 2023. Schreier says he's heard the news from individuals familiar with the ongoing development of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. There have been no official statements from either Warner Bros. Interactive or Rocksteady regarding Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's release date, for the time being.RELATED: Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Reveals First GameplayWhile there's no secondary confirmation that Suicide Square: Kill the Justice League has been delayed, it wouldn't exactly be major news if it were confirmed. The original release window, as noted, was first announced when Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was first revealed in 2020. Announcing a release window that far ahead of time, for a AAA game, amid an ongoing pandemic, was likely not done with the utmost confidence.

The delay may also not be particularly long, either. All that the new report is able to confirm is that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is pushed to 2023, but doesn't confirm when the game was set to launch in 2022 in the first place. The delay could be as short as shifting from December 2022 to January or February 2023.

Given the launch is still some ways off, a specific release window probably isn't even confirmed internally at Rocksteady for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. As such, a shift from the last quarter of 2022 to the first quarter of 2023 makes sense. There's always the possibility that this is a much bigger delay than is immediately apparent, however. It could push Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League all the way back to late 2023. It's a big enough game to justify a holiday release, for certain.

All that fans of Rocksteady's Arkham games or DC-related games in general can do is wait patiently for more information. If the report of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's delay is correct, an official statement likely isn't too far off.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
