A Suicide Squad game has been rumored since the release of its cinematic counterpart, and many wanted to see their favorite characters in a game similar to the critically-acclaimed Batman Arkham titles. Speculation about the game has steadily increased as the DC FanDome event has drawn closer, and it seems that players will finally get insight into the upcoming title. This will be a relief to players who thought that the game may never come to fruition because of external business factors.

AT&T has been rumored to be selling Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and this has put the future of its studios and games in doubt. However, it appears that the games that have been in development, which include Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and another Batman game, will be going ahead as they have been confirmed by Warner Bros. for its upcoming DC FanDome event.

Will Arnett, who took on the role of Batman in various LEGO movies, will host the Suicide Squad segment, taking place at 8 PM Eastern on August 22. The panel is scheduled to last 20 minutes and this should be more than enough time to include footage of the upcoming Suicide Squad game. It is unclear exactly what the game will feature or how it will juggle its cast of characters and possible villains but many fans will be excited to see what the trusted studio produces. For many, this title was on top of the DC FanDome announcement wish list and its confirmation will likely boost the anticipation for the digital event.

There have long been calls for a Suicide Squad game and it may be difficult for the game to meet expectations. Nonetheless, Rocksteady Studios has done a terrific job with the Batman games and many will be relieved that the studio is continuing to develop games given recent rumors. While the next Batman game will be the attention of many fans at the virtual event, the Suicide Squad game has a chance of stealing the show and creating even more excitement.

The Suicide Squad game has been in production for a long time and with that in mind, many will hope that this footage of the game gives them tangible insight into how players can use the cast. If the gameplay can manage the revolving door of characters then Rocksteady Studios may have another hit on its hands.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is in development for unspecified platforms.
