Players will be able to equip the anti-heroes of Task Force X with some classic costumes pulled straight from the comics in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Rocksteady took gamers by surprise when it announced that it was making a new game in its acclaimed Batman: Arkham universe back in 2020, and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s premise of eliminating Earth’s titular team of protectors as Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark was an exciting one for diehard DC fans.

However, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League would hit several speedbumps on the road to its planned release next February, not the least of which is ongoing backlash surrounding its third-person shooter combat and a live-service model that has drawn unfavorable comparisons to titles like Marvel’s Avengers. Not helping matters is Rocksteady delaying Suicide Squad twice in the past couple of years, with the latter pushback not expected to address all of the issues fans have had with Suicide Squad’s pre-launch showings so far.

Rumor: Suicide Squad Could Remove Controversial Feature During Delay

One of Suicide Squad's most controversial features might be reworked or removed during the game's latest delay, according to a new rumor.

This isn’t stopping Rocksteady from starting to build up hype for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League in the months leading up to its new launch date, with a series of deep-dive YouTube videos detailing the game’s story, combat, and unlockables. The first of these was released earlier this week and revealed that players who pre-order Suicide Squad will gain access to the Classic Outfits pack, consisting of alternate costumes inspired by each Squad member’s original comic book appearance.

A brief trailer for these retro-style Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League costumes was posted alongside the main deep-dive video, with each playable rogue showing off their attire while Amanda Waller goes over their mission to neutralize the renegade Justice League members such as The Flash. King Shark wears the dark-blue singlet he did in the pages of Superboy #9, Deadshot sports his silver mask and red jumpsuit from his second appearance in Detective Comics #474, Captain Boomerang dons his blue-and-white jacket and hat from Flash #117, and Harley Quinn is clad in the iconic red-and-black jester outfit fans will remember from Batman: The Animated Series.

These new pre-order outfits weren’t the only subject of this week’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League deep-dive, as the developers at Rocksteady also spoke at length about the game’s story and open-world, squad-based shooter gameplay. While there will likely be plenty of customization options as part of Suicide Squad’s cosmetic-only Battle Pass, fans looking for a more classic, comic-inspired look for Task Force X's resident band of mercenaries will need to pre-order the game ahead of its launch on February 2, 2024.
