Last month, Sony's first big State of Play presentation of the year featured Rocksteady Studios showing off its upcoming Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. A number of things were revealed about the game, but one of the more interesting reveals was Wonder Woman's status in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

During the February 2023 State of Play, Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League footage showed a confrontation between Wonder Woman and The Flash that reveals Wonder Woman is not under Brainiac's control, and is instead actively trying to save her fellow Justice League members. She asks The Flash what she needs to do to stop Brainiac, but his response that she will have to kill the League is met with horror. While her role in the game isn't explicitly revealed, this appearance does have huge implications for its plot.

The first trailer for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League gave players a simple but promising premise: the Justice League has been taken over by Brainiac, and it's up to Task Force X to take them down. This ends with the titular characters being confronted by a corrupt Superman, but it wasn't clear who else was on the alien AI's side. As time went on, more trailers revealed members of the Justice League under Brainiac's control.

The first official gameplay footage for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League indicated The Flash would be an earlier antagonist, content to pester and annoy the titular characters. Later footage revealed characters like Green Lantern, Batman, and Martian Manhunter. Until the recent State of Play, it wasn't entirely clear what role Wonder Woman would have in the upcoming game. Despite not being under Brainiac's sway, Wonder Woman may not be an ally to the Suicide Squad.

Wonder Woman Could be Friend or Foe In Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League

Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League Flash Wonder Woman

The implication in the game's most recent footage is that Task Force X and Wonder Woman will be allies, but when it comes to Amanda Waller's team in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, it is likely that nothing will be as it seems. Waller doesn't seem to care whether members of the Justice League live or die, which will likely cause some kind of conflict with Wonder Woman if her main goal is to free her former allies.

On the other hand, the footage also makes it clear that their goals are not entirely in opposition. From what players can see, Wonder Woman also wants to stop Brainiac in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which will likely make her an ally to Task Force X. In terms of sheer strength and ability, Amanda Waller's team of villains and anti-heroes will be outmatched by the Justice League, so it is possible that Wonder Woman will help with the heavy lifting against her former comrades. Whether she will be able to go through and help the Suicide Squad deliver the killing blow, or be an obstacle that prevents them from doing so, remains to be seen.

Ultimately, it's too soon to say whether Wonder Woman will be a friend or foe to Task Force X in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, but there's a good chance she's an ally of convenience that only lasts as long as their interests are aligned. With Amanda Waller pulling the strings, there is no telling how long this alliance will last. Wonder Woman also has her own video game in development, so it's not likely she'll be a playable character in the upcoming game.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League releases May 26 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
