Batman: Arkham Knight may not have been everyone’s favorite Batman installment from Rocksteady, nor was every fan perfectly content with where it decided to end its narrative. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is thankfully a continuation of the Arkhamverse, and as such it is returning Batman to his proper glory with a newfound role on the Justice League. This makes less sense at the moment due to how Batman faked his death, but before the Knightfall Protocol ending takes place, Arkham Knight manages to handle its Bruce Wayne identity reveal incredibly well.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has revealed little about Batman’s role and has not alluded to how he made his way back into the public, let alone became a world-renowned superhero. Batman is known to not keep many companions close in the Arkhamverse and this is an odd turning point as a result, but after Arkham Knight’s main narrative concludes it is great to see how enemies and villains respond to the events that have transpired. In this way, Kill the Justice League will have a lot it needs to consider when it comes to its own endgame content.

Batman: Arkham Knight Has Adaptive Dialogue Before and After Its Story Conclusion

It may seem trivial that the Arkhamverse’s henchmen can be heard lamenting about their circumstances or the villains they work for, but it is an integral piece of world-building used to express the thoughts of common grunts. Eavesdropping on these muscle-bound criminals can even tease huge twists in the plot, like when listening to Joker goons talking about how ambiguous his illness seems from one moment to the next in Batman: Arkham City.

Then, after Scarecrow reveals Batman’s identity to the world in Batman: Arkham Knight, players can hear criminals talk about that. Bosses that players take down after the main story has ended will also hear their adaptive dialogue commenting on their revelations. This makes NPC dialogue heard at any time significant because it is a timely depiction of what is happening in the narrative at any given time, which makes each game feel interconnected and like events going on are affecting everyone involved.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League can learn from Batman: Arkham Knight with regard to how it should approach its open-world Metropolis before and after its narrative ends. It would be fantastic to hear Task Force X’s thoughts on events happening in Metropolis, even though there may not be any henchmen for them to take down.

It would be interesting if Harley Quinn remarks upon a time Batman caught her in a previous Arkhamverse game, for example. But whether Kill the Justice League ends with the Suicide Squad defeating Brainiac or not, there will need to be enemies in its open world for players to shoot at afterward.

This means that the game will either take players back in time to before the game’s story ended in order for them to complete optional content, or it will take place after a potential Brainiac defeat. Either way, the most convenient approach for Kill the Justice League to take is to say that there are leftover Brainiac enemies and remaining villains in Metropolis to wash out. If this is the case, Kill the Justice League will hopefully feature adaptive dialogue between characters that also reflects its narrative world-building like Arkham Knight.
