The broadcast date of the upcoming Suicide Squad ISEKAI anime has been confirmed, with a short teaser trailer and key visual released along with the news. The series was originally announced in July 2023, and is now slated for release almost one year to the day since the initial announcement.

A number of character trailers and visuals have been released in anticipation of the series, which is a major instance in a growing mutual relationship between western comics and Japan's manga and anime.

The Series Has Been Set For A 2024 Release Since Announcement

Suicide Squad ISEKAI has garnered much attention since its initial announcement in July 2023, with some of the focus brought by the fact that the anime is being produced by WIT Studio, the animation production studio behind the unforgettable animation of the first three seasons of Attack on Titan. The series also has a few big names working on it with original character designs by Akira Amano (creator of Reborn! and PSYCHO PASS character designer); scripts by the duo who wrote Vivy -Fluorite Eye's Song-, Re:Zero creator Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara; character designs by Naoto Hosoda, director of Future Diary and veteran composer Kenichiro Suehiro (soundtrack, Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-) behind the music.

The Suicide Squad ISEKAI anime confirmed a 2024 release window in December 2023 when the main cast was announced, with more characters being revealed at the AnimeJapan event held in March. Prior to the event, the series' third trailer revealed that the series would debut in the Summer 2024 anime season, more specifically, in July, with this most recent announcement confirming that Suicide Squad ISEKAI will premiere on Japanese TV on July 5 at 24:30 (so July 6 at 00:30).

As you'd expect, Suicide Squad ISEKAI gives the known premise of DC's Suicide Squad the infamous isekai treatment, putting familiar characters into an alternate world scenario which in this case, is a fantasy world of orcs and magic. Like in the original concept, the head of A.R.G.U.S., Amanda Waller, voiced by Kujira (Orochimaru, Naruto), assembles a group of notorious criminals for the sake of a certain dangerous mission, guaranteeing their cooperation through explosives implanted in their necks. Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Peacemaker, Clayface, and King Shark must help a certain otherworldly empire achieve peace if they are to have any chance of returning alive from this fantastical realm where dragons rule the skies.

Main cast members include Anna Nagase (Ushio Kofune, Summer Time Rendering) as Harley Quinn; Reigo Yamaguchi as Deadshot; Takehito Koyasu (Dio Brando, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) as Peacemaker; Jun Fukuyama (Lelouch Lamperouge, Code Geass) as Clayface; Subaru Kimura (Aoi Tōdō, JUJUTSU KAISEN) as King Shark and Yūichirō Umehara (titular character, Goblin Slayer) as The Joker.
