Fans have spotted a dark Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Easter egg hinting that James Gordon Jr. might be walking free in the Arkhamverse. After several years and numerous delays, Rocksteady finally released its Suicide Squad game late last month, putting players in the role of Task Force X as they battle against the brainwashed members of the Justice League in an open-world version of Metropolis. Reception to the game has been mixed, with plenty of controversy surrounding Suicide Squad’s plot and live-service gameplay model.

On the other hand, there are plenty of gamers who enjoy exploring Rocksteady’s version of Metropolis in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, just as they did with Gotham in the later Batman: Arkham games. It helps that Rocksteady has retained its penchant for hiding references to the larger DC universe in the game’s open-world sandbox, with eagle-eyed players spotting clever nods to Batman villains like Kite-Man and Calendar Man tucked away in the streets of Metropolis.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League May Already Have a Cheater Problem

Some Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League players are reporting that Rocksteady's live service game already has an obvious cheater problem.

There are also signs of a much darker Batman foe hidden in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice, as pointed out by Reddit user Consistent_Tonight37 on r/SuicideSquadGaming. They recently spotted a wanted poster of James Gordon Jr. on a wall in Metropolis, hinting that he not only exists in the Arkhamverse, but is at large and being pursued by the Metropolis Police Department. Consistent_Tonight37 also thinks that James Jr. would be a great antagonist in a future Rocksteady Batman game, as he is almost as sadistic as the Joker himself in his source material.

James Gordon Jr. Explained

In the comics, James Gordon Jr. is the son of Commissioner Jim Gordon and the older brother of Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl/Oracle. However, while his father and sister are heroes and allies to Batman, James Jr. is a vicious serial killer who has come into conflict with his more noble relatives multiple times. While he isn’t quite as prevalent among Batman’s iconic Rogue’s Gallery, many fans consider him to be one of DC’s more disturbing villains and would like to see him used in a movie or video game someday.

Rocksteady has already provided some truly dark and twisted takes on classic DC villains in the Batman: Arkham games, so it would be interesting to see the studio’s take on James Gordon Jr. in either Suicide Squad DLC or another full-fledged Arkhamverse title. As it stands now, James Jr. seems to be loose in Metropolis, and with most of the city’s law enforcement either killed or occupied with Brainiac’s invasion, the sinister black sheep of the Gordon family likely has free rein in the world of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League – making his confirmed existence all the more disturbing.
