The Good Smile Company has officially unveiled the final look of the Street Fighter Chun-Li Nendoroid, and fans won't have to wait all too long to see it in-person. The cute figure captures some of Chun-Li's most memorable poses and moves, making it a great gift or collectible for Street Fighter fans.
The Good Smile Company creates both Nendoroids and Figma, which have seen popular crossovers with various game and anime productions. Overwatch, Zelda, and more have seen Figma creations, while recent Nendoroid reveals have included Genshin Impact and Persona 2 and 3. While Figma tend to be a more proportionate and realistic posable action figure, Nendoroids are smaller, wider, and generally stick to 'chibi' proportions, making even normally-frightening characters look adorable.
The Street Fighter Chun-Li Nendoroid is now available for pre-order, with an arrival slated for June 2023 in Japan and August 2023 in the US. Her look is based upon her classic design. As with most Nendoroids, Chun-Li comes with multiple faceplates that can be mounted and removed at-will. These allow her to change her facial expression, giving her a serious face, sleepy yawning face, and a happy expression with her eyes shut. She also ships with additional parts that allow the Nendoroid to replicate Chun-Li's Lightning Kick or her Kikoken attack. An additional hand also allows her to perform her iconic victory pose.
Chun-Li costs 8,400 yen in Japan, or $58.99 USD through the Good Smile US site. While that might be too costly for some fans, it's a quality collector's piece and still costs considerably less than the Street Fighter 6 Collector's Edition. Other statues and figures have also seen much more outlandish prices, like the notoriously expensive Final Fantasy Terra statue. Fans who are interested in the figure should consider placing a pre-order, as like many other collectibles, Nendoroid prices tend to go up considerably when they're resold post-release.
Street Fighter fans have a lot to be excited about right now, though not without some minor controversies. Street Fighter 6's reveal has reinvigorated the fanbase, but the planned Street Fighter 6 cover art has left some fans cold. However, the cover is ultimately one of the least important aspects of the game, and with Chun-Li's redesign, fans of the fighter are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to fight as her again. So far, the Street Fighter 6 beta has mostly pleased its testers, so there's a good chance that this next entry will live up to players' expectations.
Street Fighter 6 will be released on June 2, 2023, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
