While not all fighting games have very elaborate stories, Street Fighter has had a long-running narrative that's included literally hundreds of characters, many of which have been playable throughout the games. Alongside the fan-favorite heroes such as Ryu and Chun-Li, the series also has some of the most menacing and recognizable villains in the entire fighting game genre, which have become memorable due to their presence in the story, villainous acts, and, of course, their overwhelming power.

Street Fighter 6 Tier List: The Best and Worst Characters

Here’s the most accurate early-meta Street Fighter 6 tier list based on frame data and rank statistics.

Still, with such a massive catalog of villains introduced throughout the series of Street Fighter, not all of them have quite stuck the landing and ended up coming off as more cheesy than anything. On the other hand, there are some true monsters that have played the role of a villain throughout the games, and it's these evildoers that we're going to take a look at today.

7 J.P

J.P

J.P may have only been recently introduced into the series with the release of Street Fighter 6, but he's already proving himself to be a maniacal piece of work who has little to no regard for the people who get in his way. He's not your typical over-the-top crazy villain; instead, he has a calm demeanor which helps to hide his immense Psycho Power, which he uses to open up portals and create clones of himself.

The truth is, though, we haven't gotten to see much of him yet and how evil he can really be, especially because he's not too big of a focus in the World Tour Mode. Time will tell if he manages to become as iconic as some of the classic villains of the series, but as of right now, he's a great addition to the series' large cast of big baddies.

6 Sagat

Sagat Grabbing Ryu's Head

Sagat has become somewhat of an anti-hero in the timeline by this point, but there's no doubt that back during the classic arcade era, he was one of the most feared villains among players. He actually first made his appearance at the end of the first Street Fighter, where he was eventually bested by up-and-coming fighter Ryu.

Being the proud warrior that he is, Sagat couldn't handle the loss and eventually joined Bison and the Shadaloo Organization, who could provide him with the tools to find and take down Ryu for good. Sagat has never committed any truly despicable acts during the story, but he was still one of the most infamous villains of the arcade era, especially for how difficult he was to beat.

5 Seth

Seth

Seth first appeared in Street Fighter 4 as a creation of M. Bison who was molded using the data of all the world warriors in order to create the perfect fighting machine. As a result, they have a mixture of moves from other fighters, along with a few of their own abilities, such as the devastating Tanden Engine. Seth is completely obsessed with achieving as much power as possible and even hints that they would use such power to take over the role of M. Bison if given the chance.

Best Street Fighter Games, Ranked

The Street Fighter franchise has a lot of great games. These are the best of the bunch.

They have also been shown to have a complete disregard for others, which can be seen not only by the way Seth utilizes Juri in Street Fighter 4 but also with the torture of Dan Hibiki in the UDON comic of the game. During the events of Street Fighter 5, Seth does begin to be a little more sympathetic, but there's no ignoring the evil acts they committed in their past life while under the control of Bison.

4 Gill

Gill Using His Ice Powers

Gill was the main antagonist of Street Fighter 3: New Generation, who also made an appearance in the fifth game. Not only does he have a fascinating backstory as the president of a Secret Society, but he also has one of the most recognizable designs in the entire series. Gil's body contains a mashup of colors, possessing a half-red, half-blue skin color with long, gold flowing hair and a very tall stature that towers over other combatants.

As the leader of the Secret Society, Gill only cares about fulfilling the tyrannical agendas that the group has been planning for the many years that it had been established. Brainwashing, DNA experimentation, and kidnapping are just a few of the crimes Gill let happen under his watch and even participated in. His god complex causes him to think that he's doing what's best for the world but simply ends up costing many lives in the process.

3 Juri

Juri

Many villains throughout the Street Fighter series tend to hide their maniacal nature in one way or another, but Juri is upfront about how much she loves causing suffering to others and destroying everything in her path. Believe it or not, Juri actually used to be a pleasant and sweet young girl until she and her family were kidnapped by Shadaloo. During the ordeal, Juri was implanted with the Feng Shui Engine, which made her incredibly quick, especially since she was already proficient in Taekwondo.

Street Fighter: 15 Most Overpowered Characters, According To Lore

Street Fighter has seen a lot of great characters over the years but some of them have been insanely overpowered. Here are the best examples.

Rather than having any grand plan of destruction, Juri simply embodies chaos and plays by her own rules, taking out anyone that she sees as inferior or worthless to her. Even after her thirst for revenge against Bison is over after the mad-mans death, she still seems to enjoy nothing more than breaking the bones of her opponents in Street Fighter 6, making her a truly psychotic and genuinely frightening villain.

2 Akuma

Akuma In Street Fighter V

Akuma is literally the opposite of Ryu in every single way possible. While Ryu wants to become the strongest fighter in the world, he does so through honorable and fair means; meanwhile, Akuma will literally do anything to achieve this kind of power. His merciless lust for strength can be seen in how he constantly strives to receive the power of the Satsui no Hado, a dark force that his brother Gouken had forbidden using, with Akuma believing that it should be utilized rather than hidden away.

Being overtaken by rage and a bloodthirsty hunger for power, Akuma kills many people throughout the games, both on and off-screen. He even went as far as to kill his own master, Goutetsu, after using his lethal Shun Goku Satsu attack, which is among the most powerful attacks in the entire series. He also constantly tries to lure Ryu into awakening the Satsui no Hado, believing that this is the one and only way to achieve true strength. Akuma is undoubtedly one of the most iconic and fearsome villains in Street Fighter in his regular form, but this isn't even mentioning his Oni variant, where he literally becomes the strongest being in all the Street Fighter universe, making him a sheer force of destruction.

1 M. Bison

M. Bison

When talking about the best villain in the fighting game genre, the crown would have to either go to Shao Khan from Mortal Kombat or M. Bison from Street Fighter. Bison isn't shy about hiding his tyrannical and maniacal personality; instead, he flaunts his dangerous Psychic Power to his opponents every chance he gets, which usually ends in their demise at the hands of the leader of Shadaloo himself.

There isn't any reason given as to why Bison becomes as evil as he is, but what is shown constantly throughout the games is just how merciless he is as a character. Bison has a lot of blood on his hands; not only is it rumored that he killed his own parents, but he's also responsible for the death of Rose and Chun-Li's fathers, Guile's friend Charlie Nash, and Juri's entire family.

He's also a master manipulator, making vague promises of power to those who serve under him, only to throw them away when they become useless to his plans. He even went as far as to brainwash several women whom he refers to as "dolls" to work as his assistants, including Cammy. All of this makes him one of the most memorable but also unforgivable and evil villains in video game history, so it's a good thing his reign of terror is over, for now, at least.
