As part of Capcom's Tokyo Game Show 2022 convention announcements, four returning characters have been announced for Street Fighter 6's roster. Since Street Fighter 6 was announced in February, Capcom has been particularly withholding of new character announcements. The number of Street Fighter 6 characters is about to jump, though, with Capcom revealing four more characters in a single surprise TGS 2022 trailer.

The trailer Capcom's released for TGS 2022 is substantial, to say the least. Its focus isn't even on the character reveals, as exciting as those are. The trailer is based around three new features, Street Fighter 6's Fighting Ground, World Tour, and Battle Hub game modes. Fighting Ground is the traditional Street Fighter experience, including all modes included in Street Fighter 5. World Tour is an all-new single-player experience featuring a custom character, and Battle Hub takes players online where Street Fighter 6 players can meet, socialize, and battle each other.

It's only appropriate that with the introduction of a World Tour, some new Street Fighter 6 characters from across the world get introduced. The list of four new roster additions includes Ken, Blanka, Dhalsim, and E. Honda, of the USA, Brazil, India, and Japan, respectively. These are four classic Street Fighter characters, with Blanka, Dhalsim, and E. Honda being introduced in Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior and Ken originating in the very first Street Fighter game.

As would be expected for the new Street Fighter game, all four of the new roster additions have received a complete visual overhaul matching their individual character arcs and lore. Ken Masters has been framed and is on the run, Blanka is a jungle adventure tour guide, Dhalsim remains a monk and yoga master with an inclination toward justice, and E. Honda is a globetrotting sumo wrestler and an expert chef.

Ken, Blanka, Dhalsim, and E. Honda will increase the total number of Street Fighter 5 characters currently revealed to 11. The other seven characters on the roster are Ryu, Luke, Jamie, Chun-Li, Guile, Kimberly, and Juri. While the roster's full size hasn't been officially confirmed, based on leaks it's supposed to be around 23 characters with 14 returning from past Street Fighter games. That leaves 5 returning characters yet to be revealed and 7 entirely new characters to be introduced.

As far as roster additions go, these are 4 safe and exciting Street Fighter characters to bring back. Blanka, Dhalsim, and E. Honda each have their own unique and well-loved fighting styles, and Ken is a key Shotokan rival of Ryu and is difficult to imagine a Street Fighter game without. The bulk drop of new Street Fighter 6 characters is also a great choice by Capcom, with more hopefully to come leading up to launch.

Street Fighter 6 releases in 2023 on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
