Street Fighter 6 is adding a 19th member to its playable roster in the form of Street Fighter 5’s dashing hero Rashid. The latest installment in Capcom’s seminal 2D fighting franchise finally stepped into the arena in June to critical acclaim and high sales figures, proving that Street Fighter is still as popular as ever. Street Fighter 6 introduced new mechanics like the free-roaming World Tour story mode, real-time commentary during match-ups, and a new Modern control scheme that makes it easier for newcomers to pull off classic special attacks.

Of course, the main selling point of any good fighting game is its cast of playable characters, and Street Fighter 6 features a colorful roster of returning favorites and new World Warriors. The base game comes with 18 battle-hungry martial artists, and Capcom has already promised that at least four new Street Fighter 6 characters will be released as DLC. The first of these new challengers is Rashid of the Turbulent Wind, whose wind-manipulation powers and parkour fighting style were highlighted in his designated Street Fighter 6 gameplay trailer at the beginning of July.

The wait for Rashid’s arrival in Street Fighter 6 is now over, as he is available as either a standalone purchase or as part of the game’s Year 1 character pass. According to a recent press statement from Capcom, Rashid comes with his own story content in World Tour mode, a similar plotline for Street Fighter 6’s classic Arcade mode, and two new “Pirate” and “Resort” themed avatar outfits that can be unlocked in the Hub Goods Shop. Rashid is also eligible to be used in the upcoming Evolution Championship Series 2023 event that is set to run between August 4 and 6.

Street Fighter 6 Rashid

Rashid is a relatively new face in the ever-growing Street Fighter universe, as he made his first appearance in 2016’s Street Fighter 5. Hailing from Saudi Arabia, Rashid began his journey by searching for a missing friend who was kidnapped by the sinister Shadaloo organization - which in turn brought him into the final battle against its leader M. Bison. Like many real-life Street Fighter players, Rashid likes to stream his battles across social media, and his power wind attacks and acrobatic fighting style made him quite infamous in the Street Fighter 5 competitive arena.

As such, Rashid’s announcement as a post-launch character in Street Fighter 6 has led to players joking about not looking forward to fighting him online once he is released. That day has finally come, with Rashid now joining Street Fighter 6 as its 19th playable fighter. The previously announced A.K.I., Ed, and Akuma are all said to be joining him later this year as part of Street Fighter 6's Year 1 character pass.

Street Fighter 6 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
