Capcom's final Street Fighter 5 update has now arrived to its Champion Edition. Titled the "Definitive Update," players can expect a plethora of content and cosmetic additions to Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition.Launched in 2016, Street Fighter 5 initially met with lower reception than anticipated. Though gamers responded better to its follow-up versions, Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition and Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition. Now, with the announcement of Street Fighter 6, Capcom is looking to bring things to a close with Street Fighter 5 and focus its efforts on the upcoming title. As such, the company released its Definitive Update today for players, with sizable content accompanied by a whopping 79-page patch note.RELATED:EVO 2022 Fighting Game LineupAs previously announced by Capcom, the Definitive Update for Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition includes a new battle balance update, cel-shading filter, pixel filter, and CAP-JAMS Remixes in-game among others. The pixel filter adds the classic arcade aesthetic to the game, offering players the nostalgic look and feel of the Street Fighter series. The cel-shading feature, on the other hand, splashes the gameplay with a deeper vibrancy that noticeably stylizes and enhances Street Fighter 5's visuals. Both cel-shading and pixel filters will only work during offline play. The final update also comes with five new songs from the Cap-Jams team.

According to the 79 pages of patch notes, each character has undergone changes to varying degrees where players could expect some noticeable changes to the gameplay. Additionally, the 2022 Premier Pass will add two fighter profile themes, 10,000 Fight Money, recolors for all of its 45 characters along with new costumes for M. Bison, Akira, and Seth. Players can also expect every character to receive new tracksuits during the upcoming Capcom Pro Tour.

With the Definitive Update going live, Capcom will likely move to increase its efforts on the sixth main entry to the franchise. Back in February, the company officially revealed Street Fighter 6, despite many assuming a Resident Evil Village DLC announcement. As per Capcom, Street Fighter 6 is currently in development with little indication of an official release date. However, the publisher stated that more details will be revealed by Summer 2022. Capcom will also be launching its Capcom Fighting Collection, a compilation of ten iconic fighting game titles, by late June 2022. It's likely that fans can expect more Street Fighter 6 news during the same time frame.

Street Fighter 5 is available now for PC and PlayStation 4.
