It’s not a secret that Stray was the most anticipated game by cat lovers. That’s because players get the chance to play with a Cat as the protagonist and help the furry creature find its way home from the rotting cyborg city, full of Zurks while helping a couple of robots along the way.
Midtown is full of Memories to collect for B-12, scratching areas to get one of Stray's Trophies, as well as secrets waiting to be uncovered, like the safe in one of the shops. This safe unlocks a Badge, and players can open it after finding the correct code hidden somewhere in the shop.
How To Get To The Midtown Safe In Stray
Midtown's safe is located inside a yellow store where there’s an angry customer outside. Once players reach the subways in Stray, take advantage of the vehicles’ open doors and cross to the other side of the station and climb the stairs.
Keep moving north until a robot running away appears. From there, head right where there’s a taller robot scolding a shorter one near Clementine's wanted screen.
Climb the stairs and circle to the right from the vending machine to finally reach Midtown. Upon entering the town, the yellow store can be seen immediately, and the customer is wearing a white puffy jacket. Jump on the counter and head inside, where the safe is located on a higher shelf.
How To Open The Midtown Safe In Stray
While walking inside the shop, players can use B-12 to translate two pictures on top of each other. Turns out that the pictures say 2458 :edoC.
The message contains the code but backward, meaning the original text is Code: 8542. Now, climb the shelves next to the pictures to reach the safe in Stray. Enter 8542 to open the safe and collect the Cat Badge.
The Cat Badge isn’t the only one in Midtown; there are still more badges to collect while exploring the town and advancing in the chapter, like the Police Badge and the Neco Badge. Also, before finding Clementine, make sure to collect all the memories from various locations, help the Companions that are stressed, and try to chat with all the robots to learn more about Midtown and the Outside.
The original purpose of coming to Midtown was to find Clementine, another Outsider, and that Stray mission came from Zbaltazar in Antvillage. The cyborg also gives the Cat and B-12 a photo of Clementine with its address on the back of the photo. Sadly, it appears that Zbaltazar won’t be able to go to the Outside since it uploaded its mind into other devices.
