After the long overdue wait, season 4 of Netflix's hit series Stranger Things finally was released last week. The season is set to be split into two volumes, with only the first one being accessible to fans right now. As fans anxiously wait for the final episodes to hit the streaming platform, Shawn Levy, one of the show's directors and executive producers, has given a tease of what's to come in Stranger Things 4 Volume 2.

In Stranger Things 4 Volume 1, fans watch as Eleven (played by Millie Bobby Brown) struggles to settle into her life in a new town without her abilities. As strange occurrences start taking the lives of Hawkins residents again, Eleven begins to work with Dr. Martin Brenner (played by Matthew Modine) to help restore her abilities. With help from an orderly (played by Jamie Campbell Bower) at the lab, Eleven is able to overcome her mental block and restore her powers, but she soon discovers he has a hidden agenda and also has similar abilities, which he used to slaughter everyone in the lab.

He then tries to petition Eleven to join him on his mission, and when she denies the advance he attempts to kill her too. In a heated battle, Eleven sends Number One back into the Upside Down, and it’s revealed that he is the season's villain Vecna. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly Levy explained, “There’s no question that season 4 is built as a prelude to and springboard for the fifth and final season.” He went on to add, “When you watch Volume 2, you’ll know what I’m talking about. And I’ll just tell you, as great as Volume 1 is, Volume 2 is extraordinary. I can’t wait for the world to react to Volume 1, knowing that they have such rich episodes to come in just over a month.”

Levy teased that many questions and theories fans have formulated from the initial episodes will most likely be answered going forward. “There aren't many accidents on Stranger Things. There is clear intention and strategy and real thought given to each and every character," he explained. "So, if you came away from Volume 1 feeling those bread crumbs of plot and character it’s probably no accident.”

Levy also made note that the final two episodes have a lot of heart and they instill the larger cinematic elements Stranger Things season 4 has delivered so far. With the release of the final two episodes rapidly approaching, fans eagerly await the conclusion of the treacherous battle between the people of Hawkins and the evil Vecna.

Stranger Things 4 Volume 2 is set to premiere later this summer, on July 1st. The second volume entails two episodes, one episode that runs at 1 hour and 25 minutes and a second that's duration is 2 hours and 30 minutes long.

Stranger Things season 4, volume 1 is now available on Netflix.
