In the survival game Stranded Deep, players must learn to recover from a myriad of status effects, including how to deal with sunstroke, how to cure poison, and how to treat broken bones. For their fractured limbs, players will need to craft a splint, which may have them scouring the island in a weakened state.

To survive in Stranded Deep, players will need to collect resources, build shelter, and hunt, or fish, for food. While traversing the islands, it’s not unlikely that players will fall from high altitudes, which will cause their leg to become broken.

A broken leg can prove irritating even for players who are confident they know how to survive Stranded Deep's island. This status effect prevents the character from running, decreases walking and swimming speed, and causes additional health loss from jumping. Additionally, broken bones will cause a steady loss of health, hunger, and thirst until treated. Players will know that they have a broken bone because their character will limp, and looking down will reveal a very unhealthy left leg.

Fortunately, a broken leg can be cured by crafting and applying a splint. To do so, players will need to scavenge for two Wood Sticks and two Lashings. Sticks can be acquired from Wood Logs, Driftwood Piles, and Ficus Trees. If the player does not have a cutting tool, sticks can also be found lying around the island. Players must craft the Lashings, which will require them to get eight Fibrous Leaves.

Once a player has the required components for the splint, they must press the ‘C’ key to access the Crafting menu. On the crafting screen, the player will need to click “CONSUMABLES,” located at the top of the menu, which opens a list of consumable items that the player could potentially craft. Players may need to scroll down to locate “SPLINT.” Players must place their cursor over the splint - which will be showing the requirements and how many of each the character possesses - and click the left mouse button. Doing this will place the splint in the character’s hand; at which point, players must click the left mouse button again to use the item.

Before Stranded Deep characters can heal, the game requires that players treat any negative status effects. Now that the player has applied a splint to their fractured bone, they should see a gradual increase in their character’s health.

Some players may notice that their character isn’t healing, even after applying the splint. This may result from the character being hungry or thirsty; players may need to get water or find food before they will see an improvement.

Stranded Deep is available now on Linux, macOS, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
