Stranded Deep leaves players alone on a seemingly deserted island with limited resources to survive off. Though the plane's lifeboat will give the player limited mobility in terms of traversing multiple islands, a raft is needed if the player wants to get very far. That said, crafting one isn't always the easiest of tasks.

Stranded Deep recently launched on PS4 and Xbox One, and with that launch interest in the game has been revitalized. Though it has been in early access on Steam for quite some time, there is still quite a bit about the game that has yet to be well documented or explained, such as how to craft a raft.

It's worth noting that the lifeboat the player starts out with is more durable and less likely to tip than the raft, making it the better option for more cautious players, but the raft's speed and versatility will eventually make it more useful.

Stranded Deep - How to Craft a Raft

Crafting a raft requires three main steps, as the player must create a base, a floor, and some kind of propulsion system. There are multiple options for each step and rafts are very customizable in terms of both looks and functionality. For starters, raft bases can be found in the rafts section of the crafting tab, and can be made either out of wood, buoys, tires, or barrels. The specific requirements of each can be found in the crafting menu, but they all function the same. When searching for buoys, tires, and barrels, shipwrecks are often the best place to start.

After creating and placing a base, players will need a floor. These can be found in the same menu but this time the player will need to navigate over to the floors subsection. Here there are five options, and they affect the weight and stability of the raft. Driftwood, Wood, Plank, Corrugated, and Clay raft floors all provide a floor for the player to stand on. Finally, the raft menu also offers two types of propulsion, the sail and the boat motor.

While the boat motor is much faster, it is incredibly difficult to make early on and requires fuel to use. The sail is much easier to craft and is also quieter. The main benefit of the raft in Stranded Deep is that it can be expanded in size, updated with materials, visually customized, and can hold crates for the transport of items.

Stranded Deep is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
