Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life is an upcoming remake of the Harvest Moon games A Wonderful Life and Another Wonderful Life, coming to Switch in summer 2023. There are already a lot of new additions shown for the game, such as character customization and same-sex marriage. There will likely be some new faces in Forgotten Valley, but for now there are a lot of familiar faces in the reveal trailer and on Japan's Bokumono website.

Story of Seasons and Harvest Moon veterans may have some expectations on which characters they'd like to see in the upcoming title. It looks like the bachelors and bachelorettes from the previous games are coming back with updated designs, and there may be more yet unannounced. There are also some familiar creatures like Mukumuku, as well as families like Nina and Galen.

Characters Confirmed for A Wonderful Life So far

In terms of bachelorettes, the Bokumono website has Lumina, Nami, Molly, and Cecilia listed, with Molly being an updated version of Muffy and Lumina being a bachelorette from A Wonderful Life's special edition. The confirmed bachelors are Gustafa, Rock, and Matthew from Another Wonderful Life, with Martin being renamed Matthew. However, since there are four bachelorettes, there will likely be a fourth bachelor who is yet unconfirmed (fans are guessing it will be the new male character shown in the trailer with a child, who could be the redesign of an old character named Cody).

Non-romancable A Wonderful Life characters confirmed on the Bokumono website who were also in the old games include Nina, Galen, Chris, Hugh, Vesta, Takakura, Wally, Mukumuku, as well as the tree harvest sprites, Nik, Nak, and Flak. Some of them may have name changes, though, and there are subtle design changes such as Mukumuku now having a hair bow. From the Story of Seasons trailer alone, other confirmed characters from the old games include Rock's parents, Ruby and Tim, and Lumina's grandma Romana, alongside her butler Sebastian. Of course, the trailer also confirmed a child character the protagonist can have after marriage.

The Japanese Nintendo Direct trailer revealed a little more. Tartan, the two-headed plant that belongs to Takakura, also appears to be in the remake. It's looking like Kate and her father Grant will also be present. Van, the traveling merchant, has also been seen in a couple of preview screenshots. The pyrotechnic twins, Patrick and Kassey, have also been shown appearing in a mini-game.

Old Characters That Are Unconfirmed

Murrey talking.

There are still a lot of characters from the old games whose status is unknown for the upcoming Harvest Moon remake. There have been no sightings of Murrey, the man who lived in the woods in the original titles (though the Japanese Nintendo Direct trailer did show a similar-looking character who could be a redesigned Murrey). There was a man that lived in a laboratory named Daryl in the old games, and he may or may not come back.

Forget-Me-Not Valley had a dig site overseen by characters Carter and Flora. While not revealed yet, fans are optimistic that the dig site and characters will remain in Forgotten Valley. Another unseen character is Samantha, though she will likely be confirmed later since trailers have shown her husband and daughter. While Muffy has been reintroduced as Molly, there has not been a confirmation of Griffin, who worked the Blue Bar alongside her.

The old games also had Dr. Hardy, who was known for having a mechanical eye. Most of these games have a doctor of some kind, so players will likely get Dr. Hardy again, or at least someone new to replace them. There is also a non-human character named Daa-chan, a teddy bear that could be purchased from Van, who is sometimes seen to move around and believed to talk with the child character. Fans will just have to wait and see whether this bear and other characters return in the upcoming game.
